Very customizable! Perfect for getting rid of Firefox's clunky default scrollbars.

I use dark themes, and often you can't see the scroll bar wth these dark themes. In combination with this addon an dark theme, everything is fine !

Can you add a choice to randomly change scroll bars on new tabs too? It will definitely be great if you can, thanks for your efforts!

I tried the test build (scrollbars_test.xpi), and you are right, it's very unstable as it did work, but changes colors within the page when I scroll up or down, and it also removed my customized bar, when I removed it, the bar re-appeared, so I will stick with this version until that new one is stable enough, again thank you for your reply and efforts.

Such an option would be possible.I've included this feature for testing purposes into the linked test build.

ATM it is part of the already existing 'random' option, so give it a try, while the random option is enabled. On some websites this scrollbars feature is not very "stable" and can cause glitches.

It is such a simple thing but the scrollbar is awfully boring as-is. It is good that someone came along and gave people some choices!

This scrollbar is just unique by itself and most improved.

Such a small change, such a major impact. I can't tell you how much I have cursed looking for light grey slider against the light grey scrollbar on large pages. I will never lose my train of thought again as my eyes fruitlessly scan the for the elusive slider. And customizable, too! Awesome.

Edit: Thanks, yea that's what i meant. Looks great.

Old review:
It's pretty good, but since pretty much nothing in Firefox is "rounded", having the scrollbar button rounded doesn't fit at all.

Would be a 5 star if it had the option to make the button square, as the original, with no rounded edges.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.7.1-signed).

Hi Surrealzx,

by 'rounded' you mean the scrollbar caps, right? There will be an option to disable them on next release, but it is already in the latest devbuild.

Install it from here:

Superb Add-on! Love it! Has become a MUST! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This Add-on has been such a surprising delight! Now I would put it very close to first in importance, if I needed to begin from a new Firefox. It makes those scroll bars so very easy to use. This is a pleasant surprise-I tried it thinking that I'm not aware that improvement is needed but now-good grief, it's so very much improved. Many thanks for developing this for us.I would give this 6 stars if I could for surprise value.

Amazing Add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I LOVE this add-on!

Thank you so much!

"light blue" (v1) funktioniert nicht richtig Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.6.1-signed).

Weird happenings Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great addon but I have strange goings-on...Win 7 32bit. FF 11.0

At FF startup ,the up/down left/right arrows sometimes appear, sometimes don't. Sometimes they are arrows, other times they are just coloured blocks. When they are arrows, changing the colour, changes them from arrows into blocks. Sometimes there is one strange block right in the bottom right-hand corner of a different colour.

Just my observations. Keep up the good work.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.6.1-signed).

Hi Rigs,

the arrows get removed when the color gradient is used (both are scrollbar-buttons background-images) or a scrollbar-button setting is changed (temp. override). Without the color gradient and any changes the arrows stay after browser restarts.

The block in the right bottom corner and scrollbars background share same background color information. Maybe it would look nicer, if it would hause scrollbar-buttons color too.

would it be possible to make an option to disable the scroll bar on certain sites. cheers :)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.5.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

I think it is possible, but it is a lot easier and faster to use Stylish extension and add urls and domains there:

code:

@-moz-document
url(http://edition.cnn.com/WORLD/),
url( URL ),
...
url(http://www.abc.com/sub/help.html),
domain(google.com),
domain( DOMAIN ),
...
domain(ebay.com)
{
scrollcorner,scrollbar,
scrollbar thumb,scrollbarbutton{
-moz-appearance: none !important;
visibility:collapse !important;
}
}

Add more domains or urls, if you like.

I particularly like the random at startup option.
My browser looks different every time. This makes it a lot more exciting!

Very nice Add-on, thanks!

Suggestions...
1. Instead of 2 preset sizes, let users select their own size.
2. I mainly got NewScrollbars because it allows for a dark background. But I'm sure other users would like to select any color they wished for the background.
3. A few styles to choose from would be nice. And if possible, allow users to add their own design to the style.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.4.1-signed).

Thanks.

1. The two present sizes will remain for the predefined scrollbars but there will be more settings in v1.0.5 where one of them will be the custom size selection.
2. Colorpickers for scrollbars background, thumbs and buttons will be added to next release.
3. Maybe in a future release I could add some more styles. Atm a "style" (for e.g. predefined scrollbars) consists of 11 images. I simplyfied this in v1.0.5 so there are only three images needed now. Unfortunately the scrollbar caps got removed for this kind of simplification.

Thanks for the information. In fact, a detailed info :)

I believe, since Mozilla is an open source, there has to be an alternate to your implementation.

However, I'm increasing your star rating:
1 for the very good information
1 for the very good implementation
1 more, appreciating, expecting you will figure out an alternate.

;) Cheers !!!

Ok, thank you, I want just to inform you after reading more about it on Bugzilla and mozillazine forums that this is indeed a Firefox bug present for years now. This cannot be fixed inside an add-on but must be fixed inside Firefox. If you have time you can read about it here:
