...in the newest versions of ff it should be a default behaviour, but if you still want to use it, read this:

I loved this add-on and was sad to lose it to a FF upgrade. However Tabberwocky does a lot of the same so I'm happy again!

Please update this for 3.6 so we have the option of opening tabs where we want them.

I need this add on updated so badly! There are other add ons that allow you to open a tab to the right of the current tab, but they all do that automatically. This add on gives you an option in the right-click menu, giving you the best of both worlds

I refuse to update Firefox to v3.6 until there's an updated version of this add-on to work with it! I love this add-on that much! :)

AWESOME plugin, doesn't work in FF3.6 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I l-o-v-e this extension, but it doesn't work in FF3.6. Since upgrading to 3.6, I have a hole in my heart due to the loss of NextTab. Only an updated version can fill that hole. Until then, I will weep every time I have to drag a tab next to be my current one.

In the mean time, you can use this extension to open tabs to the right:

Tab Control 0.5.2
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1480

Working great here.

I just had to change the browser.tabs.tabMinWidth to 100.. not sure why. Could be extension or theme related.

I absolutely LOVE this add on! It's a simple way to get functionality that I occasionally want. Can you please update this add on so that it works with Firefox 3.6? I can't imagine browsing without it!

Seems as though this doesn't work in 3.6, which saddens me. I love this add-on. Anyone have suggestions for something similar to use in 3.6?

Works good; Lasts long time Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This Add-On works exactly as advertised.

Ryan reported on his December 13, 2009 update to his July 9, 2009 review that in FF 3.6b4 has Open Link Next to Current Tab as the default, but I don't find this to be the case. On December 16, 2009 I upgraded to FF 3.5.5 without ever having installed Next Tab. It was not the default nor was it even an option. I then installed Next Tab and it works perfectly.

Thanks, Rajendra, for your time and effort. Nice Add-On.

Классный аддон! Спасибо :)

Since I don't like numbers on my tabs or want them to open automatically next to the one I'm on Next Tab is perfect for me. I use Next Tab along with Tab Mix Plus which does not open the next tab exactly the way I prefer with a right click like Next Tab does.Middle click loads a new tab in the background at the end of the other tabs while Next Tab gives me the option of opening a tab next to the one I'm on with a right click. That arrangement may not be suitable for everyone however it makes Next Tab irreplaceable for me and I haven't found any other tab opening extension that allows me to open new links in quite the same manner. This is one of the extensions I need otherwise I don't update Firefox unless I'm certain Next Tab will work in it. It really does function exactly as it's supposed to. There is no reason to give Next Tab a bad rating if it doesn't suite your style. Simply use one of the other extensions that does.

If this had an option to change middle-click to open the same way as this plugin this would be awesome.

FANTASTIC functionality Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension is simple: it promises to do one thing, and it does it. Being a user who opens massive amounts of tabs, this add-on comes in handy once "Open Link in New Tab" begins opening tabs too far away. Still not sure why this functionality hasn't been added to Firefox by default, but so long as I can add the functionality through the add-on, I guess I don't mind.

My only problem with the add-on is that it's not officially ready for use with Firefox 3.5 yet.

UPDATE (12/13/2009): Firefox 3.6b4 opens new tabs immediately to the right of the active tab by default. Will there be another add-on for Firefox 3.6+ that gives the option to "Open Link in New Tab at the end of the tab row"?

Please update for 3.5 otherwise I may have to go back to a previous version of Firefox.

Updated

I have uploaded the next version of NextTab which is compatible with Firefox3.5. Thanks for the support.

Great add-on but can not work on Firefox3.5. Will support firefox3.5 ? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

it is a fantastic add-on. I used it in tandem with Colorfull tab. Now there is a bug in Next Tab. When you open a tab using Next Tab the text in the tab does not display in ITALIC. If you ctrl click on a link the tab opens with the text in Italic until you read that tab
