  • Didn't seem to work at first, until I found out that due to Firefox restrictions, local files cannot be handled by add-ons. My homepage was a local file... I solved that by adding it to my (local) web server. A warning that local files are not allowed would have been useful!
  • No fuss, no muss. Perfect. Please don't change it
  • MSN has been my home page for many years so I do not understand any of this??????
  • All homepage products, this one no exception, do not load a local html file as my homepage. It only works on URL's. I use an HTML file on my PC with all my bookmarks as my homepage. MyHomepage used to work perfectly, then Firefox got updated and now it no longer works. It is not a very big deal, I open a new tab, which is blanc, click on the Home button and voila. However, I really (!) would appreciate it when a homepage add-on would allow me to automatically load my HTML file. I appreciate the good work though, keep it up. Firefox is really worth it.
  • İşini basitçe yapıyor. Yeni sekme sayfasında başlangıç sayfasını görmekten hoşlanıyorsanız yüklemelisiniz.
  • Will not allow loading local files on Ubuntu / Linux.

No, "Mozilla doesn't allow this functionality" is not an answer. I have this extension, with the same local file, working perfectly fine on Windows 8.1 but it refuses to load on Ubuntu. The only use I have for this extension does not work so it is immediately uninstalled.
  • I received a very quick and precise answer. Searching the web previously had answered questions I didn't ask. I am delighted. Thank you Ben.
  • This add-on was easy and fast to install and did exactly what it said it would do. Now when I open a new tab it is my homepage -Perfect!
  • Works perfectly with Firefox 61.0.2 (32-bit).
  • Does nothing. A blank page appears, which can also be selected in the Quantum "options".
  • Bo tak lubie
  • This did what I expected, so good.
Then I found this pref in about:config
The default is false! Make it true, and no addon needed!
  • not working all of a sudden...
  • I recently returned to Firefox after a several year break, due to problems with other browsers.
This add-on is a nice idea, however it does not seem work on Firefox 60.0.2 using my home page. I might try it again in the future if it is fixed.
  • Does what it says on the box.
  • YESS F Mozilla for taking away our choice in how we want our new tabs to look. I've been a loyal user of I.E for years and only recently set firefox as my default. Mozilla, don't make me change back. I'm a very vengeful IT guy!!!
  • Ne fonctionne pas
  • Excellent add-on. Super-simple. Does exactly what it says.
    • Windows 10 Pro x64, ver. 1803
    • Firefox 60.0.1 (64-bit)
  • Does not work with Firefox 60.0.1 on Ubuntu using a local HTML file as home page.
  • Does not work with 59.0.3 -- my homepage is a local HTM file (with all my useful links), and when I add a new tab this add-on simply creates a blank page.
  • Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I have a local page as my home page and I'm guessing that it simply doesn't work with local pages. It would be great if the "developer" had included that information in his description. But in this day and age, that type of consideration and attention to detail is just too much to ask.
  • Indeed it loads my home page when I create a new tab, but it also place the cursor at the beginning of the address bar URL making is awkward to open a new tab and paste a URL, which is my reasons for needing a new tab 50% of the time. Yes, the developer is AWARE of this issue but there are various solutions (like this https://github.com/cadeyrn/newtaboverride/blob/master/src/js/core/newtab.js#L81 ) that would solve the issue (not to mention, no other "new tab" add-ins have this issue.)

  • Why would this add on need permission to Access your data for all websites? Which can read the content of any web page you visit as well as data you enter into those web pages, such as usernames and passwords. There's other add ons that do more but does not need this permission but ill give you the benefit of the doubt. Please explain
