Why was New Tab Homepage created?
I used to use all kinds of tabbed browsing extensions with all kinds of features. Slowly, as Firefox matured, I found myself needing fewer and fewer of these features, until I finally reduced myself down to just one; automatically going to my homepage when new tabs are opened.
At the time that I created New Tab Homepage, this was only available through relatively large extensions, so I simply created a standalone extension for the job and have been using it ever since. I've never understood why this feature hasn't made it into Firefox, but I'm quite happy to keep maintaining this extension as I have been for years.
If you think this add-on is useful, please donate the price of a coffee / beer to say thanks! I really appreciate all donations as I do all of this work in my spare time.
What's next for New Tab Homepage
I occasionally get emails regarding focus problems; the location bar is or isn't focussed when they want it to be; I'd like to look into these more and add a bit of code that deals with these problems. Other than that, not much to say - it's an extremely simple extension and I don't want to bloat it out with features that people don't want or need.
