Sad to see such addon was discontinued. Fx was once the most innovative browser driving the development of browser functions in the age of Fx3.
Unfortunately, with the adoption of rapid development cycle since then, Fx seems become lacking some killer functions which are well anticipated by the users.
This was the best addon, and one of the reasons I shifted to firefox! I wonder why it was discontinued!
thanks Tristan Krug for your tip!
seems like i got ubiquity in firefox 4
This add on is the closest you'll get to surfing "cyberspace" as expressed by sci fi novelists in the 80s and 90s... It opens up fast new ways to explore the internet and collate information. It is one of the Mozilla Labs extensions that needs to find it's way in to the core of FF7.
Not available for 6.x :(
Will this be made available for FF6 ?
The most useful addon ever. Thank you so much for continued maintenance.
Thank you soo much ayhan51!!! I am more then happy to donate as well! I Can use TipTheWeb.
Seriously, Mozilla, what the hell?? Ubiquity is the best thing I have ever encountered in a web browser, and when it came out I thought "Well that's it; the search bar is dead, and this is the future of the browser". God knows how many updates later and it just seems to have been dumped! Either Mozilla is blindingly stupid, wanting to stay in the past and actively ignoring the thousands of devotees, or - and I hope this is true - they're going to pull a surprise and have ubiquity at the centrepiece of a new firefox browser. Sadly I reckon its the former. But I'm really hoping to be surprised.
Edit: With the link below by ayhan515, Ubiquity works in Firefox 5! Thank you so much. I can't live without this add-on. I would be happy to donate a couple of bucks in support.
firefox 4 update wanted please... :(:(
At one point there was a lot of buzz that ubiquity would be, at some level, integrated into firefox 4. This seems to have completely fizzled. And to make things worse, you can't even use this version with the new browser.
However, if you're looking for some fix, may I suggest going over to mozzila's blog entry here : http://mozillalabs.com/ubiquity/2010/03/10/community-maintained-version-of-ubiquity-for-firefox-3-6/ . There you can find an xpi link that if you open with firefox will give you dearest ubiquity back.
I had a nice little review glorifying ubiquity all written up, but it failed to post and I'm all out of effusive praise for the time being. To state it simply, Ubiquity is great, I consider the biggest leap in web browser technology since tabbed web browsing, and it shouldn't have been dumped like it was. Until someone can convince me that there is a better way to search the internet I will be rockin' this old xpi.
Please make Ubiquity FF4.x compatible.
Please Please update this incredibly useful add-on for Firefox 4!
A must have add-on. I'm very sad not having it on FF 4.0 =(((( Please, update it!!!
This extension has become such a huge part of the way I use my browser and the internet. Now that I have updated to Firefox 4, I feel so crippled without Ubiquity. I would be so very glad if this project was revived.
Absolutely the best thing in any web browser since the invention of tabs. Thanks a lot to the community for keeping this alive.
WAKE UP MOZILLA :::: UPDATE THIS PLEASE ::::
i also need this perfect tool for the new Firefox!!
Please update for FF4.
I really need this add-on
Pity it is no longer developed. But just have tried it on FF 4.0 RC1 and seems to be working fine.
This is the only reason that I haven't switched to Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, or Firefox 4. I can't believe they prioritize Panaroma to this !!!
Ubiquity should never die - best tool ever!
This add-on SHOULD become a major add-on. Even a built in feature. Its too good! What's great is that its still has so much more potential that has yet to be realized. I can see this revolutionizing how we surf the web.
Please continue support and research. This is the best thing I ever seen in firefox
I downloaded it from here: http://bitbucket.org/satyr/ubiquity/downloads/tip.xpi
That makes it work in FF 4.0.0b
This add-on needs to be continued.
Before you hear about it you didn't desire it, after you hear about it you can't live without it!
