Seems like this should be built in Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Exactly what I was looking for, I just have to add that it works in Firefox 3.7a2 -and- on Linux.

Nice!!
But, I have one question.

I have already set my players and all, but it seems that DON'T streams in the browser, it opens the Media Player (QuickTime and WMP) and then plays but on the Media Player. Is that the way how is supposed to work?

And sorry for the help post here but at the page you've provided there's isn't an help page.

Can't make streaming the default action Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This add-on is exactly what I've been looking for to stream linked mpegs straight from Windows Media Player and works great.

However, checking the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." box has no effect. It still brings up the download dialog every time I click on a link to an mpeg, which is inconvenient.

FF 3.0.5 won't install it Rated 1 out of 5 stars

FF 3.0.5 won't install it. Any other suggestions to get FF to stream videos rather than downloading them?

Using the latest version (1.03) with Firefox 3.0.5 and it works like a charm. Does exactly what it says it does so I can't fault it. Got it streaming podcasts directly into foobar. Lovely jubbly.

Works great with 3.0 I'm not exactly sure what the others are talking about. Just make sure when you add a file extension type you don't put a period in it. That is what I was doing at first and it wouldn't work, but now it works like a charm.

Really a great feature. For some reason at certain websites Firefox would always go straight to downloading the video files I clicked on instead of streaming. And then some websites it would stream. Now that problem is gone.

5 stars for sure!

FF3

A new version was just submitted for FF3 support, and Quicktime media hijacking removal options for when Quicktime plugin decides to try to take over your extensions. Hopefully this version will be approved soon for you to download.

Kevin,
Make sure the extensions you add do not have a period in the beginning.
Good extension: mp3
Bad extension: .mp3

Seems to work perfectly in Linux.

Just the ticket Rated 5 out of 5 stars

If like me you were tired of having to save media to disk in Firefox when you know full well that they'd stream fine, and actually feel that there was a reason to miss Internet Explorer? Well this add-on is simple to use and reaffirmed Firefox's untouchable status at the top for me.
