As some others said, i long for a method to store the generated code in an image file, too.

I like the idea but you should be able to save barcodes into image files, if there is a way to do this, i can't figure it out

Mobile Barcoder doesnt't work properly Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Mobile Barcoder 0.1.4. too small frame. Telephone cannot recognize the code square. frame mus be wider (some white space between border of code and frame), as it shown on the example picture.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.4).

Hopefully addressed in version 0.1.5

Thanks for letting me know, I hadn't noticed that the barcode didn't have a white-space border. I've added a nice large border in version 0.1.5, so hopefully it will work better for you.

(At the moment it's in the sandbox area of the addons site waiting to be approved, if you'd like to try it out)

Perfect Add-on - perfect support! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I correct my rating from 4 to 5 stars!

Less than a month ago I tested this Add-on and mentioned missing size adjustment and too thin border. With 0.2.0 both has been fixed. Now size is configurable (with optimal default for my phone :-) and what's new: code type can be chosen between "QR Code" and "Data Matrix".

Works perfect even with my 2 MPixel fix-focus phone camera.

Watch this space

Glad you find it useful. I hope you'll find one of the updates in version 0.1.5 helpful, I've added a border around the barcode. I'm still working on the options to adjust the size of the code.

I'd also suggest you try UpCode (upcode.fi) app too, that seems to work fantastically on my phone.

My cell doesn't recognize it. May be because barcode is too small?

what phone?

Which phone model and software are you using? In a coming release I hope to have options to allow you to customise the size of the generated barcode.

Nice extension. Most useful is ability to generate QR Codes from the links. It's much easier to download files from internet to mobile now.

Great idea!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great idea indeed!! However, I couldn't read any barcode generated with your add-on no matter how close I tried... (tried with both macro mode and normal mode). Is there any way to increase the chance of success? BTW, I'm using Windows 2000 & Firefox 3.

Sorry to hear it's not working for you

You'll probably need a larger size code to be generated, and I'm still working on the feature for that option.

Out of interest, what phone are you using and what reader software?

No need for this myself, but the concept is ingenious and it looks well implemented.

Why so?

It's interesting that you say that, do you use the web from your phone much? Do you regularly install applications on your phone from the web? I'd be interested to see whether some additions could make it fit in with how you use your phone.

Awesome tool, by far the quickest way to get pages into your phone's browser. Forget typing URLs on a keypad, or syncing or using Joey or somesuch. This JUST WORKS

Thanks

Many thanks, glad you like it. Is there anything you'd change/add if you had the chance?

can it be resized ++ Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A handy dandy tool indeed! I'm doing some mobile content work in tokyo, and a few other lads in the office reckon it's pretty spiffy.

One thing though...

Can it be resized?

Most of the phones in the office (about 2 dozen, plus everybodys personal phones, docomo, softbank and kddi/au) can read QR codes, but when QR code reading mode is inititiated, the focus mode changes to macro, as printed QR codes in magazines or on posters are usually quite small (a square inch or so), and to read them, you have to get your phone quite close to the code, hence macro.

the default size of the plugins code means that you cant read it in macro focus mode.

Of course, switching the phones focus mode isn't too hard, but a size setting would be quite usefull

Also, I'm under the impression that the QR code should have a white border around the code (this is what the designers are telling me), although I have been able to scan codes without any problem, and it might have been something done for older phones. Or layout.

Either way, rockin' plugin!

Right-click options? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Reply to the developers comment on Right-click options
I feel that having to make two steps to copy the generated barcode is somewhat awkward, especially if it meant that it would be necessary to visit a different web-page. If it is possible to make just a single right-click to 'copy barcode' in the context menu it would be so much better and more convenient for the user.
Thanks for considering these changes, looking forward to the 'next' update.

Good suggestion

That's a good idea. I may add some context menu items that take you to the barcode on the mobilecodes.nokia.com site so that you can save it or copy the embed code from there. Would that be enough or would you prefer it worked in a different way?

Nice widget but there is no command to save barcode on computer (for web developers). So if we can have the compatibility phones list, it'll be good too ;-)

This is for users

Hi

The feature you're asking about (being able to save the barcode image) is a standard part of any barcode generator website, just pop along to mobilecodes.nokia.com, go to the Create page and generate your barcode there to put on your site.

Save Barcode ?? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Looks nice,

Would be great if I could save the Barcode as a picture, to be able to use it as well.

Should generate via the web

The feature you\'re asking about (being able to save the barcode image) is a standard part of any barcode generator website, just pop along to mobilecodes.nokia.com, go to the Create page and generate your barcode there to put on your site.

I may however include a way to reach the mobilecodes.nokia.com site from the extension with the barcode generated ready to be saved from there.

Extremely useful add-ons for mobile phone companion. I would give 10 if you can make this add-ons monitor and create QR Barcode on the fly any highlighted text and copied URL.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).

Highlighted text feature now added

Thanks for the suggestion about the highlighted text feature, this is now part of the extension. Just select some text, open the context menu and select 'create barcode from selected text'

Great Extension. Can it be resized? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

If it can be resized and moved around, it will be perfect.
