Media Stealer was by far the best addon for capturing streaming video. After having tried many, it was the only addon I found that could save videos where the media service fractures the video file into hundreds of small files with '.ts' file extensions. This is an addon I'd pay to have working again. Hopefully we'll see an updated version. If not, best wishes to the author as you are a very skilled programmer.

Please get this to work in FF30 Rated 2 out of 5 stars

...at least Media Stealer still seems to find stream urls in FF 28. Haven't tried downloading though, since the find stream function is all I'm after.

Find stream URL, copy it and play it (without downloading) in SMplayer or VLC.

Would be amazing if a button could be added that simply opens the selected stream in an external player.

Keep up the good work!

I think it's enough time to rewrite code... Oh well, project probably won't be continued.

I'm not getting payed for developing media stealer. FF26 introduces another way for downloading files, which requires a major rewrite. I'm not the original creator, however I do maintain media stealer. It's not easy to rewrite it. Feel free to participate. To say "it's enough time", is quite arrogant. If you want demotivate people, that's how to say it. You're lucky to get an answer. If you want to use media stealer, stick to FF25 until an update comes out for media stealer. I'm quite aware people want an update for media stealer.

I need help, this use to help me download videos but now It doesn't anymore.

Media Stealer is currently not compatible with Firefox 26 or higher. It can take a while to make it compatible. If you're not using FF26 or higher, what are you trying to do? Which website? Please describe more elaborate if you want help.

不会吧?难道要下载整个视频还要看完吗?

不一定啊

但是必须等视频缓存完(优酷上是分段的,这时候也基本上也看差不多了)

国人出品,我很期待啊~ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

我会关注这个扩展,希望楼主把他完善的更强大

Hi, I'm trying to download a ~ 2 hour video from youku with Media Stealer. It does download each part, but when it completes and moves on to the next part, the status says interrupted instead of completed. And right now, a completed part is getting downloaded again, for apparently no reason.

Another question I had is, does this addon download in parallel or does it save the stream as it is coming in? I mean, does MediaStealer download the video seperately from the player?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.9.1-signed.1-signed).

When watching youku, it actually uses several parts. Each part is downloadable and playable when using a media player.
Despite being "interrupted", chances are the file will be still readable by the operating system. Try it and you'll see. Sometimes it takes a little longer until it says "finished".
Media Stealer downloads the video separately from the player, there's no need to keep the tab of firefox open. (except when there are multiple parts)
The next version 1.2.9a will resolve a small bug regarding completion of files. Until then, I highly recommend to change the downloaded filename, it ensures no data will be overwritten.
Media Stealer 1.2.9a can be downloaden from this website: http://code.google.com/p/mediastealer/downloads/list
Media Stealer 1.2.9a is currently not approved by Firefox.
