Très déçu ! Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Ce module pourrait être très pratique, mais le service "mailhops" consulté est quasiment toujours inaccessible (503 Unavailable).
C'est dommage, vraiment dommage !
We do apologize for any down time, the add-on will retry, we have been making some major updates and the service is now more stable. We have an exciting V2 launching next month. Thanks for trying it out.
Outstanding Plugin! Works well with Thunderbird and FossaMail Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is an excellent!
Highest kudos to the author, Andrew.
This is a must-have plugin for anyone using Thunderbird or FossaMail. (For those not familiar, FossaMail is a 64-bit version of Thunderbird created by the same folks who made the Pale Moon Browser. It is much faster than Thunderbird on 64-bit machines, as Thunderbird only comes in a 32-bit flavor.)
I do have a feature request/suggestion:
- To have Mailhops just add a new header to the email source that contains the summary of its "Mailhops Route" information, especially the country of origin. If it's not something you want to have enabled by default, possibly add an option to turn this on?
- That would allow users create custom filters that could be used to stop spam. For example, there is one country we never do business with that keeps sending spam emails. If the Mailhops Route shown on the front end was added as an additional header in the email source, it would not be an intrusive addition, but it would help immensely with spam blocking.
Thank you and keep up the great work!
Thanks for the suggestion on the header filter. I have gotten this before and looked into building this but haven't figured out how to add a header on an inbound message. It is definitely available on an outbound message. Any help would be great, https://github.com/avantassel/mailhops-plugin
Resizes search boxes Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is a very useful extension, which I’ve had since I first moved to TB several years ago. It also saves you having to separately view the message source in order to see the message headers, which it lays out in an easily readable format (unlike the message source).
However, this latest update seems to have changed something in the text entry boxes for search, quick filter and other similar boxes where you enter text. Eg, the search box for Search has shrunk in height, the Quick Filter box has shrunk in width but is bigger in height; in both, the cursor is now glued to the icon of the magnifying glass, so that the first letter typed has no space between it and the icon. If I disable MailHops, it returns to normal. This is in TB 38.7.2 on Mac.
I tried to get to the Support page listed here but couldn’t as it timed out...
Edit: Thanks so much, Andrew, for your very fast response! The new version fixes this problem for me :-)
Fixed in 1.0.12
Hi, Thanks for the review. I didn't see that issue in TB 47 but the css could have caused this. I did isolate the css in 1.0.12 and it should fix this. This version is waiting review and should be available in a day or two. Thanks again!

Default map template is ridiculous, and the plugin doesn't save template preferences. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.3). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Default map update
Stamen maps are well, art, but they don't reveal locations until to you zoom in really far, anyway, I changed the default to the leaflet map and am working on saving the template (known bug just didn't have time to add this). Thanks for your comment.

Works good for most mails. For some mails (usually direct mails (sender and receiver from same domain)) weird route is shown and IP addresses and domain names are shown which are not contained in the source of the mail. No, means to file bug report or contacting anybody. How disappointing. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8.2).

Make Authentication Visible! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
What no one has mentioned is that when your MTA supports email authentication (DKIM or SPF), MailHops displays the results, and the details are visible with hover. No more clicking on "View Source" to find the authentication headers. The hops is handy, and the map is just eye candy but fun.
It seems to look at both Authentication-Results and Received-SPF.
Question: how does it determine whether these header are trusted? Does it assume the MTA either strips or adds to the top?
Bug: when the geoip route lookup service is unavailable, the Hops dropdown should still be populated. The route and map are just eye candy, not essential.
Must have Add-on for Thunderbird! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is what you've been looking for. See where an email is coming from, where it hopped through. It shows you the user agent of the mail client of the sender. It's free, fast, and awesome. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.3).
E-mail Checking... Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I really like this plug-in. There's lots of scams out there and when someone emails you and says they are from somewhere, this plug-in will help you determine if the sender is authentic. Of course, it's not perfect, but in my testing, I found it helpful and accurate many times. I take preference to the options it offers and has made it in to my list of must haves.

Will you consider supporting SSL/TLS lookups?
Love the add-on. Just wish it used port 443 to do the lookups on.
Hi Sam, I've had a few asks for this and will be adding this in the next release.
Getting better ... Rated 3 out of 5 stars
The change you just made (on your server, I assume) seems to have addressed my concern about the wrong location being reported -- at least in part. I'm still seeing problems with some e-mail; I sent another screen shot to your Facebook account. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5). Pas fiable Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Je ne trouve pas que ce soit bien fait comme extension dans le sens où les distances ne sont pas exactes, et les villes reprenant le lieu des contacts non plus ...This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5).
La distance est mesurée comme une ligne de vue directe et la ville est dépendante de la cartographie GeoIP.
The distance is measured as a direct line of sight and the city is dependent on GeoIP mapping.

Conversations Rated 4 out of 5 stars
@techanon - you don't need to disable Conversations to use MailHops, if you choose "view using the classic reader" from the "more" menu on the right side of the message you'll see where the message was sent from.
Said this, it'd be nice if MailHops played nice with Conversations and integrated with it.
Great add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I love this add-on. installs and works with v.8 TB.
Does not show up if you use 'conversations' add-on so i disabled that :)
Thanks for this.
MailHops works as expected. Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Installed seamlessly in TB8. New line in reading pane shows flag-button for map, and email source location. Confirmation email for Mozilla signup made two cross-US trips. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5).

good idea - but it dont works for me. it says on every mail "local message" ...
i use a arcor.de account (pop3.arcor.de)
are you using this on a gmail account? gmail to gmail will say that because there are no public IP addresses. I can only lookup public IP addresses that exist in the header of the email.
