To add the buttons to your toolbar: From the View menu, choose Toolbars, then Customize. You can drag the Stop All and/or Load All buttons to any existing toolbar.
2011-05-16: I've decided to discontinue updates/changes to this add-on. I created the extension for a personal need – to stop Firefox from loading all tabs from the previous session automatically – and decided to share it with other users. Firefox 4, however, provides a built-in means of doing this that's better than what I've written.
You can get the details at http://www.ghacks.net/2010/09/19/firefox-4-development-update/.
Basically, you set an about:config parameter to the number of tabs you want to load at one time while Firefox starts up. Or you can set it to 0 (as I do) to load a tab only when you click on it. I believe there are other extensions that will set this parameter for you without have to edit about:config manually. Search for them...
If anyone else wants to take over this extension, let me know. Otherwise, I'll keep it online for those still using older versions of Firefox.
- Updated for Firefox 3.6.
