Doesn't work with FF55 upwards. Was good whilst it worked
Just installed. Works fine. It's exactly what I was looking for. Many Tks.
Everything works fine, the IP address shows. +5
Mozilla Firefox v.43 doesn't have status bar.
Do not bother with this add on, It won't work with Firefox 3.90 . I installed then... nothing , no icon showing anywhere,NOTHING !
This Addon works fine and simple, but it's position cannot be moved in the extended-statusbar. Its stucked and messes with my no-theme-layout.
(here: ff31. maybe it's because the Addon is too old)
Neat add-on. A couple of suggestions for you: It would be nice to have "copy IP address" added to the pop-up menu which appears when I right-click on the status bar. I know I can double-click there to copy the IP, but it would also be good to have it in the menu. Secondly, it would be nice to have the option to disable the Tools menu entry and/or the "right-click inside the web page" menu entry, if I don't want to use them. Eg. if I prefer to have less clutter in my menus and only want to use the status bar pop-up menu and don't need anything on my Tools menu.
One major issue: when you click "force update now," it also copies your IP adress to your copy board. It doesn't TELL you it's doing this, it just does it. Consequently, anything important you had copied (and intended to paste later) is GONE. The first time you click "paste" and expect to see some necessary data, and instead you see "188.8.131.522" instead, and you realize this damned app has dumped your copied data out of memory without warning, you'll be furious. I just lost an entire letter I was moving from one closed screen to a newly-opened one, and I checked my IP in the interim, and Bam!, my letter was gone.
Do not recommend this add-on "Live IP Address version 1.83" it does not run in Firefox 3.5.7, recommend add-on "external IP" by Eric Morlin works perfectly in Firefox.
I quite like this tool and it serves my purposes. I would love to see support for Fx3.6
Not very impressed with the operation of the software. It gives to many false addresses when going through a router (even with the use of forced update) which proved not to be the case in regards to other live IP address softwares I tested. Irregardless thanks for the work you put into this program.

Do not use this plugin with Open DNS.
If you use Live_IP and set your DNS servers to Open DNS: 18.104.22.168 and
22.214.171.124 and make a posting on a forum (CentOS, VirtualBox, Open Office,
etc.) or just watch a thread on a forum, then leave your browser set on the
forum list to monitor it, Open DNS disallows you to read your forum after a
wait of about a half hour. You get all kinds of idiot errors about loops
and redirection. You have to exit FF and restart it. Then go back to your
forums to be able to read them again.
Here is an example of what OpenDNS gives you:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this
address in a way that will never complete.

Why is the update interval range set between 17-1422 minutes? That seems like an odd choice. Why can't you just let us set it to whatever we want? I'd rather just use external ip and hack the .xpi file to change the time interval.
Any firefox 3.5 version ? Thanks a lot !
I used this addon for a long time only since it was the 1st ip addons I ran into but external IP is so much better. Copy to clipboard in Live IP pops up with a box to make you copy it your self making more work for you. Tho 'external IP' addon puts it right into your clipboard ready for you to paste it no extra work. external IP can even alert you when your ip changes can be very helpful tho its not forced you can turn it off also. Live IP Address also isnt updated for Firefox 3.5 either.
By double clicking the displayed IP address from your FF's bar it automatically copies the IP into the clipboard, this information was in the "More about this add-on" see point 1 since plugin's early releases.
It serves its purpose.
there should be a "copy to clipboard" option in the right-mouse context menu, from the status bar.
Having to double-click something to copy to clipboard is weird.
Then you can skip the Tools menu-item, which just clutters things.
Very clean and well positioned on the status bar. One comment on the after successful force update, if the same old IP address is obtained it looks like the add-on does nothing because there is no confirmation message or anything.
But it does not work if I'm surfing internet using proxy server.
Why don't have option to remove 'Copy Live IP Address' from menu?
Very nice, clean and simple.
Worked flawlessly, even better if the option can be access from the status bar like a right click with a context menu. But that's just my personal wished, still a 2 thumbs up.
