Link Queue & Preview Sidebar 0.9.3
See if a link is worth visiting, queue him if he is.
Sidebar which provides a scaled down web browser for quick link preview and a list of links you want to remember visiting.
About this Add-on
a Link Preview and a Link Queue:
A secondary scaled down web browser for quick preview and overview of pages. You can preview links by using a configurable key/click combination, or - if you wish - just by hovering over links for a short while.
A persistent list of links you plan to visit. In contrast to bookmarks, this list is intended to
grow and shrink as you surf the web. Easily add entries with a single (configurable) key/click combination, or by selecting "Queue Link" from the link context menu. The queued links are displayed in the sidebar, sharing the space with the preview browser.
While you surf with the sidebar open, the extension provides recommendations for pages you might also want to visit - judging from what you currently or in the past looked at. These recommendations are built without submitting your surfing behaviour or other private data anywhere, so your data privacy is ensured.
The extension is ideal for people using a wide screen monitor - If you have a monitor with a very low resolution, like 1024x768, this extension is not for you - sorry.
The Linkbrowser Extension is still relatively new software. If you encounter problems, please contact the author by email instead of writing angry comments so I can quickly resolve the issue.
Currently, the Extension supports English and German. If you would like to help translate the extension or this website into other languages, please contact me (see below for my email address)
I am very interested to hear about what you think about the Extension. If you encounter problems, have criticism about the extension, feel that some vital feature is missing or are unclear about how stuff works, please contact me per email at the provided support email address. Please include "Linkbrowser" in your mail subject, so I can discern your mails from spam.
Namespace collisions in lang.js are now avoided by removing unused functions and methods, and by using a namespace prefix.
An exception that might happen when a nsIChannel in a document load is not a HTTP Channel is now caught and (correctly) ignored, instead of being logged to the error console.
This add-on is not compatible with your version of Firefox because of the following:
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
- The Linkbrowser Extension for Firefox does not submit private data about you to anyone.
- Your private data stays on your computer
- The linkbrowser keeps it's own version of your surfing history on your computer. This history gets deleted when you clear your browser history
- The extension respects private browsing mode (a new Firefox 3.5 Feature) and does not record history while it is enabled
- Link recommendations may contain paid links/advertisements. I promise, I will try hard not to annoy you.
How do Link recommendations work if you don't submit a log of which pages I surf upon to a backend server ?
Link recommendations are built on your computer. The Linkbrowser Extension has a continually updated database of link recommendation templates and combines these on your computer with what you look at, search for etc.
- Are recommended links advertisements ?
Partially, yes. Like most websites, the development of the Linkbrowser extension is financed by advertisements. I promise to make the recommended links as relevant as possible, and I will never knowingly include links to sites containing sexual or violent content, online pharmaceuticals, gambling or the like, and you won't see annoying or misleading ads - I dislike them at least as much as you do.
What might happen, is that in addition to normal link recommendations you might see relevant Text-Ads from Ad Networks like Google AdSense from time to time.
