Developer responseposted 3 years agoConcerning the new issue about https://www.skidrowcodex.net/feed/:
Unfortunately that server is misconfigured, as it incorrectly reports the Content-Type of the feed as being text/html, when it actually should be one of (in order of most to least preferable): application/rss+xml, application/xml or text/xml.
To make it work anyway, I'd have to create non-standard exceptions, which I'd rather not do; I'd like my add-on to keep adhering to the correct standards, instead of littering it with all sorts of nasty hacks for edge cases.
So, in this case, I kindly want to ask you to contact the webmaster of https://www.skidrowcodex.net and request that they change the Content-Type response-header for the feed to either application/rss+xml, application/xml or text/xml. You can also ask them to contact me if they need more details about this technicality.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help in this case, for now. However, if similar issues are reported for more feeds I might reconsider implementing these exceptions in the future (maybe a Linefeed dirty-mode option, for instance). I hope you understand. Cheers.
Thanks for the kind review and the feedback. Glad to hear you like the add-on and thank you for bringing the issues to my attention.
The feed URLs you mentioned appear to be implementations of older RSS versions, which I didn't realize differed so much from the current (simplified) versions. I was not aware that well-known websites like Slashdot still used those implementations either, so I will implement support for this in the coming days. Shouldn't take too long, as the old format is quite similar to current versions.
The issue you reported has been fixed in version 0.0.10, which is now available for download.
I removed the earlier statement I made about that the mentioned RSS feeds would not get discovered on the homepages. This was a slip-up on my part: I accidentally conflated two different concepts. Everything will work as normal.
Thanks again for reporting the issues!
