Great Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks Mozilla for creating my first web browser that allows me to see who's watching my activity in internet!

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

graph view doesn't work, toggle controls don't work, totally useless. "visited sites" is the only button which works.
i can't activate "third party sites", "connections", "watched sites", "blocked sites" and "cookies". icons and lines remain invisible after clicking onto one of these buttons. i want to give a 0 star rating.
i had absolutely no problems with good old collusion.

Nothing works, nothing.

Waste of time Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Does not work - AT ALL

No graph is displayed, no buttons work, NOTHING .
To tell you the truth, FireFox is starting to annoy me with the constant updates that break addons .
Also, I don't want to give this addon even 1 star, but that seems required ?

Doesn't install on the current (ESR) release of Firefox Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Complete crap, because it doesn't install on the current (ESR) release of Firefox:

"Lightbeam could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 17.0.9 ESR."

Yet one more proof that Mozilla actually doesn't give a fu***** damn about corporate users.

New ESR due shortly

There will be a new ESR release of Firefox soon. The older one simply does not have the APIs to run Lightbeam, but it should work on the new one.

Works fine, documentation sucks Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm taking away a star because, like many of the 1-star reviewers, I installed it an nothing.. happened... no clue how to view the graphs were available on the web pages.

I finally noticed the tiny little widget in the bottom left corner of the Firefox window, clicked on it, and Shazam! There it was.

Mentioning this somewhere in the documentation, rather than having users play "Adventure Game" looking for it, would be a nice addition.

Lightbeam Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is awesome! The graph itself is kind of scary to look at, but keep in mind quite a few of those third party connections make those sites work properly. If you look on the left side of the screen you'll see the list link. This is where you can take actions to block those third party trackers that don't make your site work, but they are just spying on your private activity. I started out by blocking most of the obvious ad sites that my ad blockers weren't catching, and holy moly! My web pages are loading at least twice as fast, and probably better than that, and they are completely devoid of annoying advertisements! This add-on is a true blessing! Get it now! you'll be amazed at how much better your online experience will be!

Blank. Security and other errors Rated 2 out of 5 stars

With Adblock Plus/Edge enabled, I get many "This operation is insecure" errors. Also get lots of "aggregate.update is not a function"

Would be nice to know how lightbeam is affected by other extensions/plugins.

Launched Lightbeam in a new tab: clicking on buttons does nothing Rated 1 out of 5 stars

No visited sites appears, and all the buttons doesn't works. The interface seems freezed. I have tried disabling all addons, but nothing changed. When i run from terminal i have this messages:

error: lightbeam: log blocking 0 sites
error: lightbeam: getDomain(): ip address: xx.xx.xx.xx
error: lightbeam: getDomain(): ip address: xx.xx.xx.xx

Excellent and Useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great app! First, it might help some people who have the add-on bar turned off to turn it on, then go to customize their toolbars. Grab the Lightbeam icon from the bottom right in the add-on bar, drag it up to the navigation bar, then save and turn the add-on bar back off. Using this app in conjunction with Adblock Plus, I was quickly able to block 99% of the 3rd party sites. One did not show up in Adblock so I blocked it directly in Lightbeam--list view, check the item, and block it. I went to the 15 or so sites I visit daily, and shortly had them down to just the single floating bubble, or only a few calls to Google for maps, etc. I cleared the data and checked again...clean. Very nice!

Blank black screen whose links do not work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

DLed Lightbeam, launched and it opened a new tab. The page is black; the buttons in the side bar highlight when hovered but clicking does nothing; above the black window it shows that I have visited x-number of sites and x-number of third party sites but the page is otherwise blank.

So what's the point? I uninstalled it.

Cool graphic but . . . Rated 4 out of 5 stars

uh, yeah, so what do you do with it? reminds me of that SETI website in the late 90s where you could join 1000s of computers and see interesting graphics in real time of a wild goose chase - really too much information to actually use - for the average user - But, after visiting 5 of my every day websites and seeing that there were 54 third party sites "watching me" - so now what? Boo!!

HOW TO USE Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Cool app, its launched through the Add-on bar, which I have turned off by default so it took me a bit to figure out how to start it..

Press Crtl + / on windows machines to view the add-on bar, the Lightbeam logo is in the far right corner. Click on it.

Informative Add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on is neat because it visualizes who is tracking you on each website. It was startling to see that after visiting 46 sites, 215 third parties had been contacted. Blocking third-party cookies and Ad Block are a must have IMO.

Stop spinning! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

My god why does the graph keep spinning in circles. Really annoying. Other than that pretty interesting to see all the interconnectedness of the interwebz.

Great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Statistics, ability to block offenders and amazing visualization. All that you need if you care about your privacy. Mozilla should probably divert the Collusion download page (currently stating it doesn't exist) to Lightbeam.

Documentation sucks. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

So. Installed the add-on. Have looked thru the homepage, support page, internal docs. HOW IN H*LL DO YOU USE IT? No button on my toolbar, no context menu item, NOTHING.
