Leechblock worked well initially. Then I made the mistake of checking the option to be required to enter a 32-character random access code in order to access the options field. **The problem is, even if I want to make the blocking more stringent, I still have to enter the string.** So I uninstalled and re-installed. Didn't work - string requirement still there. Once again - uninstalled, cleared cookies, re-installed. Didn't work. At this point, I have to decide that more time is being wasted trying to make Leechblock work than it would be on the sites I was blocking. Too bad, because if this bug were fixed I'd reinstall it. *Thanks for your reply. I don't want to enter a 32 digit access code (this is actual very difficult for me ) which is why I tried a reinstall. It seems reasonable to me that reinstalling any software should reset the parameters to default.
There is no option for entering a 20-digit string. Perhaps you meant the 32-character random access code. If LB is asking for an access code it's because you selected that in the options. All you need to do is go to Options, enter the access code one time, then change the option so that no password or access code is required.
Good job man!
Helps me stay on topic, and use time wisely. And it has way more restrictive features than I've seen other productivity software implement (even to the point where, if you aren't careful in your implementation, you can lock yourself out to the point where you have to wipe everything!).
If you want to enforce some control on your life, this is a good place to start
I was initially trying to find an alternative to StayFocusd for Firefox and worrying I wouldn't find a good one, but now I'm worried I won't find a good alternative to LeechBlock for Chrome.
LeechBlock is lightweight, configurable exactly in the way I want it, and really easy to use. Fantastic work, a great extension. One small feature request: Something showing time left when I visit one of the pages in the blocksets.
I was concerned by waste of time while writing or blogging and LeechBlock is the best blocking program I've never used to prevent it. The best: its many ways of temporary block any website, allowing different time windows. No less its user friendly easyness. The best!
I've been having trouble with visiting addicting sites that consume a lot time without offering any sort of meaningful experience in return. Leechblock has made it much easier to stay on track.
This plugin does really help me save a lot of time.
But if you can add a new feature, that'd be the best.
The feature is temporary visiting.
For example, if I set temporary visiting 10 minutes.
Every time after the delay-blocking page, I can visit the webbsite for 10 minutes.
Thank you again.
Works as described, haven't encountered any issues so far.
I'm using this on Ubuntu 16.04 and it works as fantastically as promised. There are several customizations available to block exactly what you want when you want. The only feature that could be added is "only let me visit this site once every x amount of time".
I've used the software for a few days now. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. It's pretty barebones, but does exactly what I want it to. It's not that hard to configure once you figure out the different options there are.
The addon works correctly for its intended purpose and with its features like timing the usage for specific sites and other locks it's all you will need. There are some cases which are not covered for eg if you have blocked youtube and a website has embedded youtbe video then that video won't be blocked.
Leechblock is great, bit since a couple of days, it has stopped working with Firefox Nightly, it has disappeared from my addons tab and can't be reinstalled.
This fantastic add-on is helping me stay off twitter except for 2 25-minute periods a day! I was sitting up until 2 in the AM reading my feed. Once in a while I disable it, but I find my overall patience with twitter is wearing thin. I also use it for other sites, but twitter was the reason I installed it. Can't thank you enough.
It helps me to improve my internet habbits. Thx!
Does what it says, block you from sites during the time you enter!
The best thing is; You can block yourselfe from changing the settings during the same time.
It would be rather easy to overrule the blocking if this option did not exist!
It does what it advertises and it does it well !
A life saver - simple to use and efficient
I'm really grateful that this plugin exists. Once you get use to the right settings, it works like a charm, and is helping me to focus on my work.
Support me a lot to avoid distractions at work. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who interested to stay productive and cutoff social media / entertainment consumption.
Very useful to reduce notifiations from incoming mail or social media messages; allowing these a few monutes an hour allows me to keep my focus the rest of the time on writing and analysis
Didn't block social media, not even once. Tried redoing the setup multiple times and just lost time. What a shame, could have been my best add-on.
I have used leechblock for years now, and as with other users have found it a powerful, flexible way to block bad habit time wasting sites. Easy to configure, and I'm delighted it's being actively developed again.
