trusting vs checking Rated 3 out of 5 stars

SyncPlaces is open source and lets you use your own webdav/https server. No need to trust sales speeches about host-proofing, just check the source and put the files on your own machine. No middle man involved, your browsers, your server, open code, that's it. This add-on may be great, but not when you're talking about trusting access to your whole digital life.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.51.2).

You can check, not just trust, and this is apples to oranges

Just because something has an option to use your own server doesn't mean you shouldn't check it out too, the developer is _ALWAYS_ the middle man -- you never know.

Many people have verified we do what we say we do, and we're happy to help you do the same. SyncPlaces could be the right solution for you if you don't need multiple browser support, run your own server, are conformable managing your security on that server, don't need mobile support, don't need web based access, are comfortable not having password support on AJAX sites, don't want to accelerate your experience with autologin, etc, etc. It's an apples to oranges comparison.
