should be in FF core! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

why isn't this add-on in FF core? it's just too obvious that it's useful, and not in the way for usability... i think it would even enhance the simplicity regarding user experience.

This is great idea except it does not work with NewTabURL 2 ... instead of closing browser, it keeps opening up homepage again!

Works great Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I wanted it to work like Chrome, where closing the last tab also closes the app. At first, I thought it didn't work; it just cleared the current page and left a blank tab. But then I realized I had to specifically set the extension's options to close the window (duh)...and it works!

Mauvaise conception Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Dommage que l'item vide reste affiché. Il serait plus logique de laisser que la croix apparaitre (celle qui permet de créer un item vide) Et ça permettrait d'afficher une image de fond d'écran à la place. Pour moi c'est un bug de conception dommage...

FABULOUS!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For an electronic clutz like me (to say nothing about my OCD) that little x is an absolute "must have".

Works! Thats all. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works as advertised. Using it on Firefox 6.0. I dont understand, considering the feedback FF developers get on the beta builds, how can they miss such simple things. Thanks to the author.

Works flawlessly, using it for years. Works great with speedials, don't know why the geniuses at mozilla decided to remove the ability to close the last tab.

A miracle! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works a charm, also on 4.0.1, using the "browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab FALSE" solution. Love this add-on!

Even though the effect is to return to my homepage, I like that I can close the last tab, which opens a new one with no previous history. Keeps things logically separate.

I was hesitant to upgrade from 3.0.19 for the longest time
Even when 3.5 and 3.6 came out I kept going back to 3.0 because of the lack of that last close button (yes I -AM- picky). Finally, with this and the FFox 3.0 skin, I can use FFox 4.0 comfortably! MAJOR PROPS TO THE AUTHOR!

I use this program in conjunction with "New Tab Homepage". "Last Tab Close Button" does EXACTLY what it says it does, BUT one small thing I would like changed is the focus of the text bar when it opens my homepage. If I make my homepage Google or Facebook, the flashing bar is still in the URL bar, when I would rather have it in the search or login bar. I looked in the code already, and have no clue what I should change to make it do what I want. Hopefully the maker of this plugin or someone that reads this comment can help me out. Thanks.

Mushaf, your config option doesn't do anything for me (Firefox 3.6). The button does not appear on the single tab. Tjard, this close button used to be there before 3.5 or something. They removed it. But we want it back. This is one of my most-needed add-ons.

Just enter 'about:config' into the address bar. Filter the word 'lasttab' and you'll get this string → 'browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab'. Double-click the value to toggle it to false. That's it, no need to install an extra add-on.
