The add-on does exactly what it says - removes the news feed and the distraction of it. I'm only interested in messages and (less so) in notification updates - which this is perfect for. Personally, it's also a good add-on to test abandoning FB altogether.
First off, the add-on does exactly what it's supposed to do and works well. The issue is Facebook will constantly keep trying to load the feed while the add-on blocks it, slowing down the entire browser and sometimes crashing for me.
A quick solution is to simply stop the page from loading by hitting the 'X' at the end of the URL bar. It would be nice to not have to do that, but it's not that big of a deal for me.
It does block the feed but whenever FB is open it makes everything on Firefox run extremely slow. I can't type messages and go to my profile without it taking 2+ minutes. I don't see how to fix this. Whenever I disable the addon it works perfectly and then when I re-enable it it slows down so much. I started to use Safari just to use Firefox but I shouldn't have to! I can't figure out a way to resolve this which is extremely frustrating.
Hi, I've been using this add-on for some time. For me it does create a problem though. Whenever it is active, facebook constantly retries to load certain page elements which are blocked by Kill-fb-feed; then after about a minute it just gives a completely blank page. So no more facebook chat in combination with a feed-less Facebook. Which was the whole point for me. A few times, my browser itself became unresponsive and required a restart.
I'm running Firefox 39.0
Please reply if there could be an update to rectify this issue. If it does get solved, I'll update my rating as well :-)
If you want to stop wasting time on fb, but don't want to remove your account altogether, this is for you. No more wondering aimlessly for hours!
You might also want to block the facebook "ticker" (that useless "mini newsfeed" they added above the chat). An easy way to do so (if you have an ad-blocking extension, as you should) is to add these to lines to the manually edited list: www.facebook.com##[id="pagelet_rhc_ticker"] www.facebook.com##[id="pagelet_ticker"]
I'm a bit tired of facebook, but I think that some features are important (direct notifications from groups, chat, and others). That's why I just can't disable my account. This addon is exactly what I was looking for. Just perfect!
