Why was JSONView created?
I developed JSONView because I like JSON better than XML, but developing RESTful web services with XML was easier to debug because you could just view the output in a browser, while JSON caused Firefox to just throw up a download dialog. So I set out to make JSON viewing in Firefox as nice as, or better, than the default XML view.
What's next for JSONView
JSONView is a simple extension with a simple purpose and I'd like to keep it that way. That said, there are a few things I'd like to see added to it, including better JSONP support and support for viewing JSON served with incorrect MIME types. You can follow the full list of proposed enhancements at http://github.com/bhollis/jsonview/issues .
