Good Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I like interclue, it does exactly what it says it will. You can chose settings about sites it will work on, or when a clue will pop up, how it will pop up and ect.

As much as I love it, I had to disable it. One problem is, merely passing by a link activates it. It took me ages to figure out why people on IMDb were filling up my "ignore list" or why a bulletin board was suddenly no longer in threaded mode or was now sorting differently. Disabled it there, but unfortunately, it happens in my yahoo email Spam folder - if I mouse over a Spam email, it later shows it as read, and I don't want that info going back to the spammer. Can't disable it on Yahoo email because they use a dynamic domain name. Assistance from the developers would be appreciated, because, despite these issues, I love the ap.

You can change this behaviour in the options

1) To disable fetching of "active" URLs across multiple domains: Add a fragment of the URL that appears after the domain name to the "action indicating words list" in Interclue options|advanced|safety

2) To disable all on-hover link fetching: Under interclue options|advanced|performance tweaks; Turn off "fetch headers on hover" and "fetch text on hover". Also, under Interclue options|advanced|hoverclues; Disable Hoverclues.

Soon (maybe not the next version, likely the one after it) we will probably change the defaults so that internal links (ie, those on the same domain) are not given clues by default, which will pretty much eliminate this particular problem, at a relatively low cost in terms of ease of use.

Memory hog/leaker Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I generally browse with many tabs open, and I use an older windows machine with 1GB of memory. Using this add-on for a couple weeks, I'd noticed the memory footprint of Firefox approaching 1.5GB after a few days of use. This happened several times before I started looking for the culprit add-on. A process with more than the machine's physical memory footprint causes quite a lot of thrashing. After disabling the add-on, Firefox is sticking to a much more manageable 300MB memory size.

I would not recommend this add-on to someone who uses many tabs without several gigs of memory.

Please contact support

Hi, it would be good if you could give us more details (eg browser version, desktop platform) via one of our support methods on http://interclue.com/contact.html - we think we know what was causing the bloat & we will try to resolve it next week with a new release.

I am really impressed with Interclue, especially with the customizable options. I added the icon to print the Interclue window, saving paper that would otherwise be used by a website's ads, etc. I use the program extensively with Google Reader to quickly and efficiently my feeds. Great program.

Without a doubt one of the top 2 or 3 FF addons. Bravo! Saves time, bandwidth and wrong-turns.

Small feature request:
Is there a way to make appearance of the linkclue more customizable? For example, one might want to activate the clue by a ctrl-click (or alt-click, etc...) on a link instead of hovering over the linclue icon.

sadly had to uninstall Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have loved this add on until......I upgraded to Firefox 3.5. Then none of my streaming yahoo finance portfolio pages would load .....I looked for help with error message "octet-stream won't open". Some people said it is caused by interclue. I uninstalled interclue, and sure enough, the streaming pages now load as they did in the earlier versions of Firefox.
If interclue team can fix this problem, then I will reinstall it.

Fixed in Interclue 1.6.1

Hi there. This was a bit of an odd one. We didn't realise it was Interclue causing the problem for a long time and we're still not precisely sure why it was happening, but we seem to have fixed it with the changes to how hoverclues work in Interclue 1.6.1

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Really annoying. When I hover over a link, every cookie on that site asks to be accepted on my computer (as I've set up Firefox to do.) Usually it's 3 or 4, but the record is 30 dialogue boxes asking to set a cookie. Even if I'm browsing from Point A to Point B on a page, every link in-between asks to set its cookies. I can't even land on a page with a lot of links without being assaulted by requests to set cookies.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to uninstall this program? I really hate it.

A tricky one. We have addressed it in Interclue 1.6.1

It's true that the practice of confirming every cookie, which must drive people insane so we don't expect many people have that setting, is made considerably worse by using Interclue. Interclue uninstalls like any other Firefox addon - see http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons - and Interclue 1.6.1 now prompts users who have this particular cookie setting to either change it (eg to expire all 3rd party cookies on closing firefox) or to disable Interclue.

Time-saver Rated 5 out of 5 stars

One of my top 5, saves me time, *very* configurable & intelligent, will pay off huge if one spends 15 minutes reading the instructions & exploring the options, always improving, doesn't add a big resource load.

A great option to have. Bottom line: saves me time. Love it. (thanks)

All u guys need to do in order to gain all of the users is to add an option to see pages as they would really look and not only the plain body of the page (though more safe It's useless to me, for example. but i have other uses for IC :D )
