InstantFox is still working on Extended Service Release Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on, as it offers fully customizable search shortcuts with search suggestions. Unfortunately it does not work with Firefox 48 or higher. I have looked for solutions and alternative extensions with the same functionality, but I found none.

For that reason I moved to Firefox ESR by installing an ESR version. This will allow me to stay on an earlier version of Firefox until March 2017, and keep on using InstantFox.

If there still is no solution by March 2017, I will probably start using Vivaldi as my main browser. Vivaldi natively offers fully customizable search shortcuts (but I prefer the way they are presented by InstantFox).

Sad to know it is not compatible with recent FF versions. Used it at least for 5 years.
Thanks a lot to developer for this very useful tool.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful add-on.

So long and thanks for all the fish Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Judging by the other reviews this add-on may be dead. Many thanks to the dev for all the hard work to this point.

However, because the way this add-on works is so ingrained into the way I browse, I've been looking to replicate the functionality. I thought some people might be interested:

I've found that the "Smart keywords" function built into Firefox can be used to search from the address bar in a similar manner, albeit without suggestions and less customisation. Documented here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-search-from-address-bar

Also there are a few separate addons that replicate much of the right click/context search aspect: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/search/?q=context+search&appver=49.0&platform=windows

bug with FF 49.0.1compatibility Rated 4 out of 5 stars

While InstantFox is enabled, Firefox doesn't show suggestions based on History and Frequent visits while typing in the address bar.

Thank you for producing this addon ;) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Even if it's now no more maintained, I just wanted to express my thanks for developping this useful tool. At the time I installed it, it gave me a kind of linux way of doing things. I will switch to other utilities, but I doubt I will get the same efficiency. Anyway, thx again ;)!

Goodbye Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thankyou developer

Something (bad) happened Rated 5 out of 5 stars

After updating to Firefox 49.0:
- built-in autocomplete stopped working (disabling InstantFox solves this).
- InstantFox is not working anymore.
(Five stars is for past performance.)

Was Great Till It Broke Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As it seems it's broken, anyone could suggest another plugin ?

And thanks to this plugin author for the long run, I enjoyed that plugin for a while ! :-)

InstantFox IS DEAD!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I talked to the developer. He told me, he would like to continue developing InstantFox. But the extension technique of Firefox has changed and is no longer compatible to IF's technique. You can find his mail address on the IF web site.

By the way, the 5 stars are for the long time, I could use this wonderful add-on!

Awesome Stuff Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great tool. I ditched Desktop safari.

Develop Rated 3 out of 5 stars

The addon was excellent in Firefox before version 48. Now it breaks address autocomplete and usually ENTER/RETURN key does not work correctly.
Real question is: IS THIS ADDON STILL BEING ACTIVELY DEVELOPED?????????

Barely works Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This addon barely works!
- address suggestion: Broken
- Search results - always 1
- If you use the hotkey search on opened tab it will not change the tab title so you will have trouble with finding it when you change the active tab.

This addon used to make my work much easier but now I think I would be better off without it...

Aaaaaaaaaand everything broke Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I know it's probably not the add-ons's fault, but everything broke with the latest FF update. Hitting enter doesn't work anymore, instaload randomly hits enter for me in the middle of typing, and I can't turn off instaload to fix it anymore, the setting broke. Hopefully it get's fixed because this add-on is now useless..

Completely broken in FF48 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

With FF48 and InstantFox enabled it is no longer possible to press Enter to load URL in the bar, often the browser just jumps to the site instead of searching, and lots of other small bugs.

I still love the add-on and wouldn't want to give it up, I really need this functionality, so please fix this.

Breaks the awesome bar with Firefox 48 Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Since Firefox 48 (at least on Ubuntu), this add on break the awesome bar. When I start typing in it, I do not get the auto complete for the sites I previously visited.

Good - but no sync with firefox Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I would really love to have the content of this app updated with all the machines where I use firefoxSync. Is this possible? Am I missing something?
Otherwise this feature would be huge

Superb - But Annyoing Bug In Most Recent Version! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I have used this add-on for a long time and never had any issues. But in the last update there is a very annoying bug. Someone else below mentioned this same bug, so apparently I am not the only one to see it. And it happens every time I use IF. After using IF -- for example doing a youtube search in the FF navigation bar -- you cannot navigate away from the found page. If you try to navigate to another url, the url in the navigation bar is changed, but you are still viewing the same youtube page found with IF no matter what you do. You have to close the tab and use a different tab to go to a new page. Please fix this! It's an outstanding add-on ... 5 stars for sure except for this annoying bug. I'm using FF 48, Win 7/64 Ultimate, Thanks for the great work!
