This used to the best Instagram Plugin and the only one that saves stories from people with private accounts that you follow. However, now it seems to be abandoned. It doesn't save video stories, in most video posts it displays a huge "Open in new tab" button over the save button so you can't click it to save, some photos are saved in webp format instead of jpg and also some photos are not saved with the IG account name as filename prefix but with the word "null". Every time Instagram changes something in its layout, this plugin breaks down even more.

Effortlessly downloads photos from both posts and stories, but as of a few weeks ago, it no longer works for downloading videos. There are other add-ons that are apparently still capable of this, but it’s a shame that it cannot be done anymore with Instab in particular, as it holds the distinction of being the only add-on that I know of which can successfully download stories from a mobile device, as while it isn’t supported for Firefox Mobile, it actually works great running it on Android via Firefox Nightly! Granted, that’s a workaround rather than an ”official” use that I’d expect support for, but the fact that I can still use it even when I don’t have access to a desktop is a great perk and has been tremendously useful, especially given the ephemeral nature of Stories.

The issue with video stories (and frequently but not always video posts) has cropped up in the past for Instab and was fixed by the dev, and even though it hasn’t been updated in eight months, the same issue also cropped up around four months ago and lasted for a while before seemingly resolving itself, so I can only hope that Instab will return to full functionality one way or another again soon, as it has been the most useful Instagram downloader I’ve ever used.

Work on some post, but not others. Seems random

This used to be working fine but from last one month on mouse over I see a button "Open video in a new tab" and on click it opens the post in new tab and there also no option to download it. But on the same machine when I login to my other account there it works perfectly fine. Not sure why this extension is behaving differently on different accounts. Any suggestion what is wrong?

Works fine for saving stills but with Reels it only saves one still frame, sadly. I haven't tried Stories yet. Edit: saving stills and video now so uprated to 5 stars. Thank you! (still haven't tried Stories, though)

This add-on is useful and simple to use. However, I cannot download any videos from Instagram stories anymore. Why is that and could you please fix this problem? I have to download them with other methods and Instagram always lock my account using the third party apps. Thank you.

This is the best IG downloader plugin among all other Firefox plugins. Currently it has a problem with story video download but I'm sure the developer (Alan Dours) will fix it soon.
BTW a new feature suggestion: Adding `username` as prefix to saved filenames would be great.

IG story videos are not detected anymore, there is no button for story videos. Only images. Need update.

Is there a bug or something wrong with the app? I can't download story videos anymore, only pictures.
