  • This used to be great when it was up to date but it's not. Time to move on. I highly recommend the alternative plugin Open With, which doesn't give you a tab view of IE, but does gives you the ability to launch any installed browser (eg Chrome, Opera, IE) in its own window, from the Firefox tab menu.
  • AVOID the "Coral IE Tab"
    INSTALL "IETab 2"

Made the mistake of installing Corel IETab on 200 computers, nothing but complaints from my users.

Installed "IETab 2" with Firefox 3.6.3, and will never look back! Excellent behavior, not a single problem. It automatically updates all IETab links except for the bookmarks, which only required me to add a "2" the the end of the word IETab.

Save yourself the trouble and switch to IETab 2 !

  • gee wiz !! why can't these things be simple ???
guess it's time to get rid of firefox......
  • This is a dead-end for all FF 3.6+ versions. I stayed with FF 3.5.9 hoping that this excellent and trouble-free add-on would be updated, but it is not going to be. AVOID the "Coral IE Tab"-- it does have more features but does malfunction in some configurations. Not worth the hassle. I have finally installed "IE Tab 2", which works EXACTLY the same as the original IE Tab (different developer updated the old code). No problems in FF 3.5.9 and now in FF 3.6.3. So long, Hong Jen Lee, it was nice knowin' ya.
  • Only three stars because it doesn't work on Firefox 3.6.3, even when using Mr. Tech's Toolkit to "make it compatible".
  • PLEASE, PLEASE, if you cannot update for FF3.6, then designate one of the other addins as a successor. Without input that's verifiably from the original developers, I can't trust ANY of the newer addins which CLAIM to be descendants.
  • This is a very nice add-on but I cannot give it the 5 stars because it does not yet work with FF 3.6.3 and IE 8?
  • If you have Mr. Tech Toolkit, you can overwrite version compatibility.
  • IE Tab 2 is the same IE Tab, same developers, only it is updated for new firefox. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/92382
  • Unfortunately no longer works with the latest version of Firefox - I now use Coral IE Tab, which works great (even has a compatibility option so it doesn't conflict with IETab)
  • It's good, But I have the newest version of firefox.
    Please update.
  • I appreciate this add-on, because it comes in handy on several sites that I visit frequently -- sites that are not compatible with Firefox. I like the feature that allows me to program which sites to automatically switch to IE mode when visited. NOW, if you could update this add-on to work with the latest version of Firefox that would be SUPER!
  • hey, people!!!
stop trying to resurrect the dead.

i've long accepted and moved on from this abandoned add-on, and so should you.

at first i adamantly refused to trust its successor, IETab 2, but after finally succumbing to a test-run...
IETab 2 is exactly the same as the original IETab, yet working even for the newest FF3.6.3.
  • has compatibility issue with version 3.6.2
By the time they plan to find a solution
  • New Version, Please
  • perfectly...I wish more authors would make add-on's such as IE tab! Rock on
  • I want to install this on my Seamonkey but it won't let me, sigh...

  • Let the developer of coral ie tab or the developer of ie tab 2 know. Submit a bug report or go to their forum pages and give them the input. The original ie tab developer has moved on and has refused to update it after many pleas by several of us.

  • I doesn't work "exactly" like the original IE Tab --
UNTIL IT STOPS BREAKING SINGLE-PLAY ANIMATED .GIFs.

We will gladly support updating the original IE Tab, in order to see this function returned as a Firefox add-on option.

Spamming somebody else's half-baked add-on which does exactly the SAME damage to GIF animations that the detestable Internet Explorer does in the first place and claiming it's "identical" to the previously excellent IE Tab is false information.

The original IE Tab presented a solution to this problem that we could recommend to our site visitors who preferred to use Firefox (as opposed to Chrome or Safari4Windows, neither of which have this problem). "New" versions of IE Tab which still cause the same GIF damage are worthless to us.

We greatly hope that IE Tab's original developers will respond to all of the pleas here for it's update.
  • Stop trying to patch the old IE Tab, it won't work for opening a page in an IE tab! IE Tab's author said he won't update it anymore, and has invited anyone to work on the open source code, which "ietab.net" has done, creating IE Tab 2. It's in beta, but it looks and works exactly like the old add-on, and works great in the latest Firefox. Like others have said, it's right here:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/92382
You just have to check a box saying "Let me install this experimental add-on", and you have the same add-on we all know and love!
