This no-options-thing might be quite enjoyable, but avtually I would love to be able, if I want to, choose the favicon by myself. Any hope for that happening?

Favicon Picker 3

I'm sorry, but not in this extension. See Favicon Picker 3 for that feature. I think (although I have not tested it yet) that the two extensions should be able to co-exist.

Awesome idea, and was sorta glad there was not settings to mess with.

It just works. :D

I just started using this last night and absolutely love it! I was always happy with HashColouredTabs+, but this add-on beats it all to pieces. The favicons are gorgeous!! I like looking at my tabs just to see what's there. No usage problems at all and everything seems hunky-dory. *Thanks* for your fabulous work.

Can you make it compatible with FF2?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.5).

Firefox 2

Sorry, but the short answer is no. FF3 has a completely reworked bookmark and favicon architecture, making the extension work for FF2 as well would require me to basically rewrite the whole stuff from scratch. Since I'm not an experienced extension writer, this would take some time, and I simply don't have that right now. Sorry again.

Firefox 3 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Seems like a good idea, but the FavIcons don't show up in firefox 3, at least for me, if the site has none of it's own, I only get a blank page icon

Only in Firefox 3

IdentFavIcon works only in Firefox 3, so if it does not work for you, it is caused by something else. Could you please write me an e-mail with some more details (web site you visited, additional add-ons you have, etc.) so I can check what is causing it?

Gets rid of bland generic icons and replaces them with distinct beautiful icons. I love it!

I using it on Minefield/3.1a1pre and this small addon is truly incredible! I always have a problem to differ tabs without favicon and now - no more problems. Just one more thing i want - the way to save this artificial favicon - many of them surprisingly beautiful.

saving

I\'m glad you like it! As for saving: I'm thinking about extending the extension into a favicon manager in the longer run, but this may take a while. In the meantime, you might check out the original identicon webpage and other related projects, you might find a simple tool for generating identicons locally. Then all you need is the CRC-32 code of the web site\'s name, et voilà!

Version 0.1.2 solves whatever my problem was. It's a small thing, but this really makes surfing a lot more fun; I'm already getting to know that a red pinwheel-ish shape means sec.gov. Thanks!

Great Addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Literally a great extension to browser functionality. Web 2.0 is about icons. This extension makes it intuitive and more informative about the site that one is viewing. Simply put a great enhancement and value-add.

Worked well half the time, replacing those pages without favicons with its own generated images. But it also replaced the favicons on a number of pages that already had their own favicons... thus defeating the purpose (to my mind).

Fixed

I have fixed this problem with version 0.1.2.

Thank you Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this idea and it's great to see it in FF. For me this is replacing hashColoredTabs as this provides a better looking and more informative looking icon!

I think it is exceptionally useful to have a favicon generated when you bookmark, if one doesn't exist for the website. Speeds up recognition. When used in conjunction with 'Favicon Picker 2' and Custom Buttons2 'Save Favicon' button you have complete control over customizing Favicons. Excellent results.

Nice idea, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me in Firefox 3.
