Thank you very much to have overcome the difficulties put before you by Firefox.
Poor HTMLValidator, poor Marc.
Firefox has problems but all we notice is that an extension is not prepared to cope with the bad attitude of the Firefox-developers.
I love this extension and will rather stop using Firefox than do without HTMLValidator!
Having overcome the worst trouble with the 10.x releases of the browser, I am glad to say, that the extension works fine under Linux 64Bits.
Perfect add-on ever :O
You've check to link above info ↑ Latest versions in there... Thank you again for this great addon.
Really good tool and i like it very much.
But with every new Firefox Major Release it does not longer work and we have to wait for an update.
Can you please rewrite the tool in that way that it is no longer depending on upcoming Firefox Releases?
Thank you so much.
It is already done. Look at version 0.951. Now does not complain to me but to Firefox and Chrome who created this maintenance nightmare due to 2 wrong decisions. The fix was to rewrite a major part of the binary and work still need to be done on other platforms.
I love this tool. I really appreciate the work you've done.
I only hope that FF will stop with this ridiculous updates.
Please update this Add-ons. I'm looking forward to. Please publish a compatible version. I would like to thank everyone who contributed. This is a very useful software.
What a great addon !
I've done a configuration (hidding some errors or warnings), do you where the config file is saved ? I need to share my config.
Thanks a lot
Type About:config in the URL of Firefox and look for tidy.
I am not sure maybe the real value is today, firefox changes too fast.
FATAL ERROR : The dynamic C library contained in the extension file could not be found.
You need version 0.911.
To make the story short, there is a bug in addons.mozilla.org (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=689733)
that detect that the version is compatible with FF7.0 automatically. But it is not.
0.911 is submitted for review since last week.
Solution in the meanwhile: get the version 0.911 here: http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/download_090.html
Is there any chance to make this work with FF 6.0.x on 64 bit Linux? Then I will give five stars for this addon, because it was great... but now it is useless for me.
(Update: Sorry about if you think my review was unfair, Marc, but i don't know nothing about what is going on with Firefox XPCOM compatibility - actually I don't know nothing about XPCOM neither -, but because of I can't register to your htmlpedia.org forum, I've had to ask it here. By the way, the linked version is not working for me, I've tried that.)
(Update 2: Jaure's version now works on 64 bit Linux:
So, thanks Marc, this is one of the best addons for Firefox... again.:)
It is here http://www.htmlpedia.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=992&hilit=
As the author, this quite unfair. Linux 32 and 64 versions were never available from this site for such reasons. Now, if Firefox decided to drop XPCOM compatibility each new version, each 6 weeks, it is not my choice. It is impossible to follow as a free work for a person like me with family.
Great addon! I've been using it few years :-) I really need new version for Firefox 6 Mac OS X. Where and when can I get it?
Very nice add-ons which allow to quickly validate a web page without any hassle or even clicking! However it is not compatible with Firefox 6 and upgrade seems a bit slow, especially for Linux.
Needs a FF6 version!
Best HTML / XHTML Validator ever!
Please also for Firefox 6.
great addon! saves a lot of trouble and integrates nicely.. but since firefox 5.0, there is no more linux support which is really disappointing as i am a linux only user :( (therefor only 4 stars)
This is simply the best html validator that exists for Firefox. Nothing else even compares.
I have no constructive advice (because its so great) other than it sure would be nice if it worked for the very latest version of firefox. I keep Firefox 3 on my mac for one reason and one reason only: this add-on.
The best validator!
Most would have finished it, for Firefox 6.0
The author thank you so much!
FEATURE REQUEST FOR HTML VALIDATOR: html5
FEATURE REQUEST FOR FIREFOX: one year with no API changes
This is a great plugin. At-a-glance you know when something's valid or not. If it could be updated to work with Firefox 5.0 on OS X that'd be great. Thanks!
Tom at htmlpedia's forum has updated this plugin to work with the Mac OS X version of Firefox 5.0. The forum post can be found here:
And the updated plugin can be downloaded here:
I've been using this addon for years. It quickly finds obvious html errors, misses a few things.
Feature request: line breaks
For those with Firefox 5.0, a compatible version 0.9.0.6 is here: http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/new_upgrade4.html
Seems to work fine so far. Thanks for the update!
Please make it compatible with Firefox 5.x as soon as possible!
useful plugin for seo. thank you
Could we have it working on 64bit Firefox (Nighty) for win7 ?
On my new notebook I`m trying to install, as most as possibe, 64bit software (it`s time, really, to migrate, to get out moust as possible from hardware and software).
I did get ride with installing other my favorite addons on 64bit FF, only with editing install.rdf line MaxVersion to 7.0. Everything runs smoothly, only the Html Validator gives error about some "library C".
Even Java and Flash player has plugins for 64bit Win7 FF.
I really need HTML Validator, I`m a web developer. Maybe someone could give me some tip or workarround how to make this addon work on Nighty (64bit FireFox) ?
