Hotmail Switching To Outlook Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hotmail users are being switched to
Outlook. Will this addon work with
Outlook after the switching from Hotmail?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.57).

Hi.

Work both hotmail and new outlook mail.

PROBLEM Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I HATE it- I can't figure out how to disable the LOUD ASS tone that goes off no matter what I am doing- and there is no volume adjustment- I want to get it off my computer! BUMMER. Thank you for the response. For the record, I looked for ways to disable the sound alert,I read the description, and I have tried to right-click. It doesn't allow me to make a change, it only opens an additional tab to my hotmail inbox.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.57).

OH.

You just right click at the hotmail watcher icon.
By the way, before review any add-on, please read the description carefully. Usually, the answers are there.

Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is/ was a great addon. I used it for about a year on 2 machines for Hotmail with extreme satisfaction. However, at a certain point it stopped working for me. I did notice that also FireFox reported in their release notes that they fixed the refresh for new messages in Hotmail in the newer (>12) FF version. However, now on FF13, I gave Hotmail Watcher another chance, and it still doesn't work. No automatic email detection, no detection after doing "Check Now". Bloody shame, that is...

UPDATE August 2012:
THX sonthakit for your answer. I can report back to you that it didn't function for a while (for me!). However, since it is an excellent add-on, decided to give it a try again. And I am absolutely delighted to let you know that IT WORKS!
I got it working now on FF14, have allowed www.hotmail.com and live.com allowed cookies through OPTIONS - PRIVACY - EXCEPTIONS. DId have to put the Hotmail Watcher on my Toolbar manually since it didn't get there automatically, but that is probably my configuration. With right-click on the Toolbar - CUSTOMISE I could place it anywhere I wanted it.
In addition, I have the BetterPirvacy addon running, and I can let you know that that doesn't affect the function of Hotmail Watcher a bit. I am really happy that my Hotmail Watcher is working again, since it is a brilliant, low footprint add-on. Thanks sonthakit for making this addon and your brilliant support!

PS Am I correct in assuming that Hotmail Watcher does not count the new emails that you re-directed to another folder than the INBOX through a "sorting rule for new emails"?

Hi.

Hi. Please check these things.
This extension works only when...

1) You must log in at normal email website. As long as you stay logged in, it will work. If you log out, it will log out too
2) This extension doesn't need login information but needs cookies. So, it may not work if Firefox doesn't allow cookies. To enable it...
Windows version: in Firefox, please select Tools --> Options --> Privacy tab
MacOSX version: in Firefox, please select Firefox --> Preferences --> Privacy tab
Linux version: in Firefox, please select Edit --> Preference --> Privacy tab

If you use "Remember history" or "Never remember history" , it's OK. But if you use "Use custom settings for history" , please see that...

Accept cookies from sites.
Accept third-party cookies.

...are checked, otherwise this extension won't work... Or you must add an exception (if you want to restrict the cookie acception).
To add an exception, please click "Exceptions..." . On "Address of web site" , please add "google.com" and select "Allow" (or "Allow for Session" if you want to automatically log off every time you quit Firefox).

3) There is a recent report conflict to add-on "https anywhere" which is not approved by Firefox. If you install this add-on. Try to modified it's options or uninstall it. Also, there is a report conflict with "quick java" add-on.

4) Make sure there is no other program clean up your cookie such as "ccleaner"

5) If you still have problem. Please contact me at sonthakit@hotmail.com. You may discover a new bug.

Default mail account Rated 3 out of 5 stars

When you open the firefox add-yahoo and gmail are logged automatically and show me unread mails. With this I login! Hotmail in my mail and close the tab without leaving my account for this add running. Is this normal?

Hi.

Logging in or not depend on cookie management, not my add-on. If you want to stay log-in, when you enter password, check the box "keep me sign-in". This will make you stay log in until cookie expire. Then you check the cookie setting of firefox not to delete hotmail cookie by setting Tools-->options-->privacy tab (require some knowledge about cookie). And make sure no program delete your cookie such as ccleaner.

I LOVE this add-on with it you may check your e-mail without leaving the page. You can surf the web and check e-mail all at the same time. There will be no more important messages that slip through until to late! With this add-on you get the e-mail as soon as the sender sends it! It is truly a help for what ever your needs may be! From work to the home this has you covered!

Unobtrusive. Low overhead. Gives just the right amount of information and functionality. The notification in the notification area disappears too soon. I would not like to click on it but would like to be able to set how many seconds it appears.

Hi.

Problem - Alert is being displayed for too short time.

You can adjust the duration of alert box being displayed by changing the default setting of Firefox. Four second delay for the alert being displayed is the default setting. You can change the default by typing "about:config" in the URL bar (without quotes) and pressing Enter. Then you can change the value of "alerts.totalOpenTime". The default setting is 4000 which is 4000 miliseconds, you can increase this value by yourself.
If you use Mac OS X, you can adjust the duration by changing Growl notification system option.
You should know that this will affect all add-ons that use displaying of alerts.

Perfect. Developer contacted me with support. Allowed third party cookies in Tools > Options and added a "keep" for live.com in Ccleaner. Works like a dream.

Thanks, this is almost perfect for me. But is it possible to make the display alert box stay open, until it was clicked, please? I sometimes don't notice the icon blinking straight away.

Hi.

I think it is a region specific error (some path of the world). So I don't know what is going on. If you want to help debug this, please contact me by email at sonthakit@hotmail.com. I will send you a special version for get information what going on at your computer.

No luck... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I also have WindowsXP Professional English, Firefox 9.01 En/US, Hotmail English language with the option "always use https" in hotmail account setting, but it still doesn't work... I've also tried with "don't use https" with the same result.
Anyway, thank you for your effort.
