  • It just works perfectly! No gimmicks and sh*t of load. Highly recommend!
  • Will it work in Firefox mobile?
  • I'm using it since a few weeks, and it seems to work without problems. Removing domains from the blacklist is a little bit cumbersome, but that's no reason to give only 4 stars, I think.
  • This is exactly what I wanted. Some sites pollute your history because they make so many entries. Just block them and they don't show up in your history.
  • Simple and easy to use. Go to the github page for the how-to and further explanation.
  • I am giving this 1 star for one very basic reason.

I have no idea what this add-on does. Specifically, the explanation is extremely terse. It says I can "specify a list of hosts to be blocked from..."

What does that mean? Does it mean those hosts visiots are NOT RECORDED in the history or simply the DISPLAY of those history items is suppressed?
  • As you stated. The bug is causing some issues on the menu options page.
  • Options menu doesn't work. Add on is practically useless at its current state. FF 57
I am sorry about that; it is a known bug in FF56/57 that has been addressed in 58: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1385548

I am currently working on a fix for it, but I have no timeline at present: https://github.com/kainsavage/HistoryBlock/issues/8
  • This works in Firefox Quantum! :)
Just go to the webpage you want to have forgotten and open the context menu anywhere on the webpage.
Then hit the button "History Block" and block this site --> Done
  • Hey, I'm thankfull for your efforts but it doesn't seem to work on Firefox Quantum 57.0 (64 bits)

Nothing happens while pressing the button "Clear Blacklist", "Remove Domain", "Add Domain" and "Import".

Tried to clean history and reboot. No luck.
  • It worked! I'm using this to ignore google.com/search, as seeing my search history as google result page urls is annoying.
  • Great add-on to exclude some sites from history.

Seemed having stopped working, but Kains (the developers) hint was helpful to re-activate my legacy blacklist https://github.com/kainsavage/HistoryBlock/tree/v2.1.0#migrating-legacy-blacklist
Thanks for the positive review, and I'm glad to hear you were able to migrate successfully!
  • Dont work! After update FF
Sorry about HB not working after the update. Likely, you are going from 1.x to 2.0.0, right? The way that addons store data has changed significantly since the legacy version, and as such upgrading does cause the blacklist to get forgotten. It CAN be recovered if you follow the instructions from https://github.com/kainsavage/HistoryBlock/tree/v2.1.0#migrating-legacy-blacklist

Please let me know if I am misunderstanding and file a bug report with as much detail as possible on Github.

  • Find the extension very useful but preferences panel no longer popups since the extension was upgraded to reflect "Firefox add-on technology modernisation"
  • blocks unwanted history
  • Good and unique add-on.
I understand why viewing of blacklist is disabled, but please add function to unblacklist all.

    Anyway, 5*!
Version 2.0.0 has this feature ^_^
  • Great! For the Future: hoping for a version compatible to multiprocess FF (e10s)...
  • Doesn't work at all for me.
  • An add-on that is constricting. Could be improved by letting the user freely edit the list of Blocked sites, password protecting the same. Also, a toolbar button should be optional.
  • last update 2011. so R.I.P. I guess... Mozilla should have added something like this instead of creating all the nonsence bloat that they keep adding these days...
  • Excellent add-on, but really need to turn off or drop the "block this" button... I mean, I close the tab, someone comes in, we start using the computer and he/she sees the block this button and ask what is it... kinda "raises some flags" I think.
  • It would very helpful to be able to see the black-listed sites. In a way, this partially defeats the purpose of hiding where you go. Perhaps the feature could be password protected?
  • Great! a must-have
  • Great, thank you.
  • Great application. However i was wondering if a mode could be added that blocks websites from history, but keeps their cookies?
