I am glad if you provide the button of icon on toolbar which activates HighlightAll, the great add-on.
How to make its work for text inside frame ?
Usable extension! Thanks!
All work fine in 57, but reinstall of addon is needed.
Does not work at all
It would be interesting to know what is your configuration. The extension has been thoroughly tested before being published and it is working on Windows and Linux systems at least. Feel free to send me a message on http://jgoudey.free.fr/highlightall/contact.php5 and leave me your email address so that I can help you identify the issue.
This add-on took half an hour of my life, because it did something with my copy/paste of FF. After disabling it it worked again. Furthermore, the addon does not work on all pages for example it doesn't work on "Review Board".
It has been broken by changes in recent Firefox versions. I am actively working on a new version for Firefox 57 which will be launched by mid-November.
Excellent add-on!!! Pleeeeeease... update to the new Firefox 57+ technology. :-)
The update for FF57+ is in progress... thank you for your patience ;-)
I love this add-on until it broke the Tab key behavior.... the most commonly used key when going through contents/fields/links/etc.
HighlightAll is currently broken indeed. See warning on the addon's description page.
Only leaving a one star to get noticed by creator.
With the new Firefox update the extension is now broken. It no longer highlights words, also it nullified copy/paste function in ALL text in firefox.
Otherwise this is a 5/5 extension that I use all the time to get better overview of my work!
I had been using this addon for ages, and it was very useful. Unfortunetely, Firefox 56.0.1 (64-Bit) showed a strange behaviour that I could track down to this addon. If activated, it is no longer possible to use the tab key to switch between entry fields on a web page, for example between username and password field. This is particularly bad if a password manager such as keypass is used to fill in username and password - both will end up in the username field because the tab key is ignored, the password is shown in clear text, and the username+password string is saved by Firefox's form autofill feature. If this issue is fixed, I would raise my rating again to five stars...
This was a really good plugin, and the only I can find that can automatically highlight text by selecting it, like a code editor. Very useful if it was working. But in the latest x64 version of Firefox I have managed to narrow it down that this plugin is blocking my from using my arrow keys to scroll web pages, and seems to block most of my CTRL-C commands of regular none editable text... very strange, and feels like it should not interfere with this. But I sadly have to disable this plugin till this is fixed... if it can be fixed soon I'm very happy and will change the review to 5 stars. As this is really the only plugin that does this thing I am looking for, and with a good amount of customization as well.
Great addon. One thing only. "Match Whole Words" switch is taken from firefox's built-in find. It would be nice to have such an option independently.
Great work. Its still a faithful companion.
Only one little bug: if i choose a color like yellow for background and black for foreground -> it twisted the colors.
Thanks for your comment.
Actually the behavior that you describe is not a bug, it is as designed within Firefox (it is the built-in functionality).
Work great, and the developer just fixed support in 1.8 for the upcoming multiprocess (e10s, Electrolysis) versions of Firefox: highlighting now properly occurs when double-clicking in the aurora builds. Thanks! :)
Excellent, simple and effective! But conflict with another add-on I use a lot (SearchWP) ... and it's hard to choose!
Excellent, simple et efficace! Mais entre en conflit avec un autre add-on que j'utilise beaucoup (SearchWP) ...et il est difficile de choisir!
It works great and it's a very very handy tool.
Could you just please give us an option not to show number of hits in the status bar?
A lot of users have statusbar hidden and it's showed only when it's content is changed. Hence it pops up/blinks on every text selection.
Thanks very much and keep up the good work!
I am posting this review with the approval of the developer, who has kindly agreed to it and has confirmed by e-mail that he's unlikely to continue maintaining the add-on in the future.
HighlightAll provides a unique and very useful feature! It is very easy to use and definitely improves the browsing experience. However, HighlightAll will unfortunately break completely in the upcoming Firefox 27.
I have written my own add-on, called "FindBar Tweak", which amongst its many features, can also function in a very similar way as HighlightAll does. I am also still actively working on it and have planned a few future improvements specific to this functionality as well.
I would invite everyone to switch over to FBT, which ensures it will remain compatible with future versions of Firefox.
Does what it promises, and more!
Thank you :)~
This is cool, but I'm looking for the Chrome function which highlights all instances as I type in the Search box. Please add this functionality as an option. I'm sure most users would leave this enabled if it existed. Also, on some web pages, while editing a document, double-clicking a word disables me from deleting that text or overwriting it. I have to single click and use delete keys.
For me, an extremely useful and well thought out addon. I use it exclusively with the 'highlight all words via double click' functionality which I have grown fond of in various editors (namely Notepad++ and Geany). Finally, I have that option in Firefox. One thing I'd like to be able to configure though: The number of occurences doesn't seem to hide (maybe I'm missing something?). It'd be great if it could be set to auto-hide after x seconds or after no text is selected anymore.
