Useful, but needs work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful little addon. It's not without serious problems though. I imagine this is still in its infancy, but I don't know that for sure.

The first and foremost problem is the tedious setup. There are no decent shopping categories. Granted you can create your own, but it's a VERY slow and drawn out process.

It should come with a standard shopping list category setup (dairy, poultry, fish, beef, paper goods, canned goods, cleaning supplies, salad dressings, sauces.... you get the idea), but it does not. When creating your own, it does not auto sort them alphabetically either.

Now that could be a good thing because you can place them wherever you wish (in order of your grocer's aisles if you will), but you cannot drag them into their proper place.

If you get specific with your categories, be prepared to spend well over a hour just to set them up. You have to scroll down, down, down, down, down, click the up/down button, wait for it to reload, then repeat until you manage to get it in place. This is for each and every one! There just HAS to be an easier way.

Now whatever you do, do NOT make the mistake of organizing your categories and NOT assigning an item to it. If you do, BEWARE. All your categories not associated with an item will be lost when you close Firefox. There is no option, as far as I can tell, to save unused categories.

All that aside though, if you're willing and able to take the time to organize it properly, it's a nifty little gadget. I'd prefer to have it as a separate app, but I'm happy to have it anyway.

Great Idea Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Just downloaded this tool. I am looking forward to using this on a regular basis. However it needs updates to add fractional amounts like .5, 1/2, or 2/3 and also the ability to add units of measure. Both which would make the recipe part of the program that much more usable. I will definitely pass this on.

Love it! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've been hoping for a better way to make a grocery list than keeping handwritten notes all around the house, and then having to transfer everything to a final handwritten list. This is so much easier!

I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 only because the add-item function is a bit hit or miss (I keep winding up with 'New Item' entries, and some items in places I didn't intend them to go).

This is a wonderfully useful add-on which I've been recommending to my friends who use Firefox...One is a chef who sounded quite excited about it. Thank you!

Very Useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a very handy and practical tool to have. Especially if your computer is anywhere near the kitchen. The List Generator is actually designed for use with ingredients for recipes but I find that it also works very well as a grocery list for all your usual grocery items. In place of the recipes simply enter a store name then add items that you typically buy at that particular store.

When you find yourself running low on any grocery item simply go to the list (very easy as there is an icon on the browser window) and enter the number of items you need. When you're ready to go shopping print the list and you're good to go! You can, as an option, set the list to clear upon generating the list.

Using Grocery List Generator means that you'll never again lose or misplace your shopping list. You will also have a list that is easy to use as it can be broken down by store and, because it is printed, is very legible. Try it and I think you'll like it!
