This is... the... third... to the second... best thing I have ever seen.
P.S. @TmoWizard I can certainly sympathize, I feel the same about a number of things. However, you cannot give the addon a bad review because it does not work for the browser you use. Besides, except for Netscape, Mozilla is the sole parent of this technology. When they become evil, like the car companies, I will switch.
Take a look at this:
Firefox is not the only and not the best Gecko-Browser.
Please, make it compatible to the other like the SeaMonkey Suite!
As has been mentioned Mr Tech Toolkit works great for using Greasefire and for other favorite incompatible addons on the (at this time) current Firefox version 3.6.10. The Nightly Tester Tools also works. Still, I hope Greasefire is updated soon.
Supergoede add-on! Gebruik hem supervaak en heb er nog nooit ook maar één kleinste probleempje mee gehad!
It does not work with the latest 3.6.1, any ideas? The add on seems very useful, please help.
The icon isn't showing up so I cant even try out this addon even tho ive heard its good. I even tryed downloading "Organize Status bar" to check if it maybe hidden but its not even on the list.
I have Windows 7 64bit and Firefox 3.6.1 anyone have any ideas?
Use it all the time for finding new userscripts.
This works great for me ff 3.6.8, if you have the Greasemonkey add-on then this is a must for finding those all important scripts ! Will be recommending Greasfire on my webby :)
it works perfectly in firefox 3.6.8 but evertime it updates it says
its only compatible with 3.0 - 3.1b3pre and i have to make it compatible again and again and again... :(
Not Compatible With Firefox 3.6.8.
How can I fix it?
most off the add ons are a few kb, this little one weight 12 MB. Strange.
The available scripts could better load in the normal browser, instead the pop up that cant zoom in.
Well, it looks like others have already discovered what I just did... but my Greasefire worked just fine until I upgraded to 3.6.3. I even rolled back to 3.6.2 in hopes that the add-on would work again when 3.7 is released, but Greasefire hasn't worked right since. It's a shame, such a helpful little time-saver. Here's to hoping future versions of both the add-on and the browser will be able to play nice again.
Great addon but for some reason it randomly works on firefox 3.6. Sometimes it works fine, others it will be disabled with firefox saying it doesn't work on 3.6.x.
There IS something funky going on with the versioning. Install it and restart and it works, with the max version specified as 3.6.*. Then something happens, not sure what triggers it, but the max version mysteriously switches to 3.1b3pre and the extension gets disabled.
Not sure where the initial 3.6.* comes from, but the install.rdf inside the .xpi specifies the 3.1b3pre that eventually crops up. Very weird. :-/
@ameboide: but how do you get it to install to firefox then?
@Sduibek: it DOES work (i'm using it with 3.5.8), but the file has the wrong version limit. you can:
a) install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/421 and then you can just override the version limit
b) right click the "add to firefox" link and save the file, then open it with winrar or another compression software, and edit the "install.rdf" file. change the "maxVersion" to 3.5.6 or whatever your version is
i was so surprise why this addon is so big ? ~ 3.0MB = =?
it looks good..i might just download greasemonkey for this alone =D
is there something out there that does this for stylish scripts as well? (recently installed and badly tinkering with) or do they work the same way, therefore there being no need?
Does not work with FF 3.6 as stated --
That being said, its functionality sounds pretty awesome, so i'm looking forward to the 3.6-compatible vers :)
Thanks kanthuu, I did what you said and it now works perfectly.
To update the version, search for "greasefire" in your computer using search or anyother method.
Once you get the results, look for a folder "firstname.lastname@example.org" or similar.
Inside the folder is "install.rdf". Open it with notepad and find 3.1b3pre tags.
Now, change 3.1b3pre to either 3.6 or a higher version. Update the addons through the addon manager, restart firefox.
the version 1.0.4 does NOT work on 3.6
it does NOT work with FF3.6 final. The update from 3.5 disables it. hoping for an updated version soon. if it were updated, i'd give it five stars
