The extension itself is very very nice. I have a Tablet PC and it Grab and Drag makes browsing easier.
But what I really don't like is the ICON on my toolbar. It's horrible. Please change it to something more neutral instead of having that glowing green and a line crossing it when it's disabled
My favorite extension! Makes my browser feel like an iPhone :)
After a few weeks of use, I can't imagine browsing without this extension.
Excellent! I use it every day. It makes my one-button Mac useful: no more hunting for scroll bars.
Alright, found the bug on uninstalling this myself. Uninstalling this plugin does not properly restore the flag general.autoScroll to \"true\". It\'s set to \"false\" to override the standard behavior on installation, but never restored if you uninstall.
So you need to navigate to about:config to restore this setting manually if uninstalling this.
Uninstalling seem to fail on Firefox 3 beta 5 for me, as default scrolling behavior is not restored. On installing this, I chose to let it use the middle button. This button already has a use before installing this plugin (entering "navigation mode" in Firefox with the round circle). This middle button no longer has a use after uninstalling, and I can only use the scroll wheel. How to fix?
Wow, this is amazing! I love it!
The best web surfing tool I have ever test since the scroll-wheel on my mouse.
I had to adapt momentum and other options in order to make it fine for me.
This addon is a real pleasure to use. Adding the physics of momentum to my every day web surfing just made my day.
NOTE: I did have to tweak the momentum values quite a bit before it worked nicely. Also, the search space of possible values included quite a few dead spots where there was no momentum at all. Fortunately, the comments (in tiny lawyer print) indicate what each value does.
I wanted smooth ,slow text autoscrolling, tried this ext, okay this seem not to have it so I deinstalled it.
There is a big problem for us wanting smooth text autoscroll:
On deinstallation it does not restore default scrolling behaviour.
Luv the hand, but...in almost every session, the page scrolls on its own, after I have completed a scroll and stopped--it keeps going all on its own.
I have to click the hand anywhere on the screen to get it to stop scrolling.
Otherwise, works great.
Every now and then I switch over to IE7 and find myself trying to scroll with a non-existent scroll hand (LoL)
Potentially the greatest add-on ever ... but it keeps switching itself off! It needs the option to be either ON or OFF without the click on page feature.
UPDATE: It was a problem with the hotkey settings that were turning it off and on, as realised by 'Spikes', quote:
"Please be aware that this could also happen by misconfiguring the extension:
When you try to disable the hotkeys by just clearing the Ctrl, Alt and Shift checkboxes the shortcut is set to the character beneath without modifier. By default this would be 'd'.
So each time you type a 'd' in a webpage's textbox or in the browser's URL bar or searchbar Grab and Drag toggles its state.
Just checking all those boxes and chosing a key combination you would never dream of using is the better way of sort of disabling the hotkeys."
just had the idea of pdf-like scrolling a few minutes ago...sure enough, this tool was available. Very professionally made with an excellent assortment of options..One of the best add-ons available.
The only thing that I would request to add is if you could do the flicking gesture diagonally.
I love it. It's great for me because I am mostly a tablet pen user. Long have I been trying to find something that would allow me to scroll with ease when using my pen.
I'd love it if there were an option to toggle the dragging by holding down the space bar. That would be the cat's a$$.
Thanks for the great work.
Once you catch on to "grab and drag" panning and scrolling, there's no going back. ALL apps should work this way! I do agree with the earlier review, however... the only reason this isn't a 10/10 is that it gets confused when you drag past the limits of the Firefox window. (Although at times I've found it useful to be 'stuck' in panning mode, when dealing with a large page. This should probably be an option too.)
I don\'t think I\'d go bragging that my extension mimicked anything like Acrobat, as that is the most top-heavy, sluggish pig-thing to mar my screen.
Works beautifully - invaluable with a tablet and great with a mouse too. Should be in trunk ;-)
This is a great extension that lets you really enjoy great scrolling! Lots of customization options, and it makes you wish every application had the same scrolling abilities!
It works really well but I must admit I do not like the appearance. I do not like the shadow nor the box effect around the hand. Outside of the lack of aesthetics its cool. Thanks
I didn't need the gestures, but the dragging ability was exactly what I was looking for for my tablet pc.
I have a TabletPC, and this makes things so much better! thanks!!
I had to read a VERY long html document, so long in fact that using the vertical scroll bar wasn't really helpful. I thought it would be nice to be able to handle the document like a pdf file. I looked for an add-on, and there it was.
This add-on does exactly what is says it does. It's easy toggled either by a keboard shortcut, a mouse klick or or hitting a button. It's customisable and you don't want to miss the momentum and flick features.
This add-on really is a great help!
Thanks a lot!
Makes life so much easier when browsing the web.
- Especially useful for sites such as 'GenesReunited' that show massive family trees as a flash object with very poor navigation control. With this its so easy to move around the screen effortlessly.
- Also useful for sites such as 'Ancestry.com' which use large images of census data. Just as easy with this extension.
Only fault so far is the necessity to toggle it off before being able to select text (or have I got the settings wrong?). And the control settings are not as obviously self-explanatory as they might be. (Hence only(?) 9/10!!)
Been using this on my IBM Tablet and it works GREAT. The ability to flick and generate momentum is very cool and useful! Thanks for the Add-on.
