Why was Googlebar Lite created?
In the olden days, when Firefox was still called Firebird, the "Googlebar" was the only Google search toolbar extension available. There were a lot of things I didn't like about it (namely how bloated it was), so I created "Googlebar Lite" as a light-weight alternative. Googlebar is no longer updated, and the official Google toolbar has come and gone, but Googlebar Lite is still around.
What's next for Googlebar Lite
I intend to keep Googlebar Lite working in its current state until multi-process Firefox is released. I currently have no plans to port Googlebar Lite to the multi-process version of Firefox, but I am accepting pull requests that add that support. See the GitHub issue (https://github.com/jgbishop/googlebarlite/issues/25) for more.
