Works fine in FF 30. Really appreciate that it opens tabs in background!
I only wish it had an icon and Russian localization (which I can help with!).
Disappeared completely when I updated to FF (Palemoon) v20.2. Tried a few tweaks, including reinstalling it, this worked in the past, but no effect so far.
When it worked, it never showed the context menu when viewing a plain image rather than HTML page with an image embedded. Tineye reverse image search works under that condition so it should be doable.
works nice when it actually registers an image but about half the time it's missing from the context menu when I rclick on a photo
Unfortunately the add-on relies on Firefox telling it that you've right clicked on an image. This means I don't have much control over it and can't fix it :( Generally if it's a direct image link, though, it should work (i.e. a div with a background tag or such may have issues, while an tag should work)
Doesn't work with FF18 - just brings up Google.com and locks the input box.
Odd, it's working for me. Could you help me reproduce the issue? (You can contact me using the "contact the dev" option)
A user suggested for you to add a context menu icon, but I must insist otherwise. The lack of an icon is not a bad thing.. I love the minimalist approach.
Yeah, I don't see Firefox using any icons in the context menus, and while an icon would help differentiate the option, it'd be useless if every addon started doing it.
Love this addon. One thing to make it perfect would be to have it load in a background tab.
From an earlier reply (recently posted): "When I originally made this add-on, the add-on builder SDK didn't have an easy way to use preferences; more importantly, I had very little idea how add-ons worked. I've played with them a bit more, and the SDK now also has support for preferences. I'll try to implement this soon. To be honest, it was something I'd wanted from the beginning, but a lack of experience and knowledge forced me to release it so."
Glad you liked the addon, though!
Edit: submitted a new version with the option.
Been using it for a month with no issues. Works great.
Would be nice to have an option for opening the new tab in the background.

Thanks for this addon! Works like a charm! But Y U NO USE ICON IN MENU?
It was mostly a UI decision. The current icon for this add-on, in my opinion, is ugly, and if I were a user, I would hate to have it in my context menu. When I make a custom icon that (hopefully) looks a bit better, I'll be sure to add it. Until then, I apologize.
Problem when using on twitpic images.
Unfortunately, I can't do much about this. The way this add-on works is that Firefox "tells" my add-on when users right click on an 'image' (as determined by Firefox), and when it does, my add-on adds the "Google by Image" menu item. If the menu item doesn't show up, or if it doesn't work properly, it would likely have to do with the way Firefox detects images, or the way that a website serves up the images.
Either way, I'm sorry, but I can't fix it. I use the add-on myself, too, and it annoys me as well when it doesn't work. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to try to implement it.
It sometimes doesn't work correctly, maybe the cause is I am using Google.com.vn not Google.com.
Hm, how does it not work correctly? I'd love to try and fix it. Feel free to e-mail me.
Another way to fix SSL functionality is just to change http://images.google.com to http://www.google.com because Google supports encryption for regular Google URL's and not the images.google.com subdomain. (Links are redirected to SSL normally for those who choose to use it, otherwise HTTP is used in my proposed fix). Tested this myself with your add-on and it works, although it is slower than just using SSL by default. Cheers.
Edit: Or those of you who use SSL with this extension could just change your redirection rules... ( http://images.google.com/* to https://encrypted.google.com/* )
Edit 2: You (developer) could always make a separate extension for HTTPS and avoid all of this hassle.
Thanks for the suggestions. It seems changing to google.com does fix it. I'll update it as soon as possible.
It has a slight problem with https. The link that is generated when I click on 'Google by Image' is http:// whereas I have configured google images to always load in https:// mode. Hence, google images refreshes mid-search and presents me with a fresh Google search page every time I use this add-on. Other than this, it is pretty much perfect, but this limits the usability very much. I am open to any solution because I like the simplicity of this add-on.
Sorry about that. I don't use https, so I didn't catch that when I tested it.
I think the easiest way to fix would be to have an option that lets users pick whether they want http or https. Alternatively, I could force https://, but I don't think that's ideal (there might be issues associated with that).
If you have any other ideas, feel free to send me an email.
Edit: I believe this is fixed, thanks to user "Firefox Unleashed." If you have any other issues, feel free to e-mail me.
Simple and easy to use. Awesome.
This is fantastic! Used to use TinEye but their results got more n more scarce. With this I get +10x more results plus Google's previews. Wish the guys at TinEye all the best, once Google steps in they're bound to take over.
Can the context menu entry be placed in the first group of options (view/copy)? I have a long list due to other addons.
Also doesn't work with image links: https://static-cdn.addons.mozilla.net/media/img/zamboni/footer-logo-med.png?b=13bd156
As for the issues: I'll see if I can place it in along with view/copy, but I'm not too sure if I could. The same goes for the issue with image links. I'm using "contextMenu.SelectorContext("img")," which makes the context menu item activate only when Firefox says it's an image. I don't know why it doesn't work on certain links, but I'll try to see what I can do. It might take a while, though, sorry!
Nice one. I really needed it.One problem .. while using.. Gets a pop up warning firefox,"Popup is blocked". .If you could do something about it, it would be great....and no need to restart is good.
#####[ Edited: I have installed the new version 0.0.3. Pop up problem is removed. Works perfectly fine now.Thanks..One more thing, you could use another name for extension.I don't think its suit your extension]
D'oh. I've been testing this mostly on Aurora and Nightly, which are not giving this popup blocked notice. I'll try to fix it soon. Thanks!
Edit: Just uploaded a fixed version. Sorry for the delay. If you're in a hurry, check the "View all versions" link at the bottom and install version 0.0.3.
