Love it, use it a lot
Would be nice if you make an option to disable the notification bar on copy and show it only when it fails.
Keep up the good work, and please keep it working on all Firefox version.
P.S Works fine on Palemoon.
Works as it shoold, nothing more to say :)
I had to access the link using Chrome because Firefox does not show me the hyperlink in the Download button.
I managed to download and install it on my Firefox 16, showed me the window to authenticate with my Google account, but I shorten a URL and not saved in the history.
Need some debug or something similar, something that I can help you to see where the problem might be?
Thanks for all.
PS: Again... sorry for my english.
I have no issues with the performance of the add-on itself, it works perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to do, however, I'm always leery about granting apps access to my google account so I was wondering what granting your app access encompasses. What exactly am I granting your app (you?) access to in my google account? Do you have access to this information? And if you do, how is our data being stored and protected?
(By no means am I accusing you or suggesting that you have bad intentions or anything, like I said, I'm just extremely cautious and overprotective of my google account so I was just curious to know some further information for my own piece of mind).
You're right to be careful. I'm doing what it says on the tin, but you can check. You don't need to take my word for it.
To be sure, you can right-click the download button, save the add-on, rename it to ZIP, unzip it, then look at the source.
In resources/goo_gl_lite/module.jsm , you will see that I'm only requesting the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/urlshortener scope, which is pretty self-explanatory. It means the add-on can only manage shortened URLs. In practice, it only adds them.
Also, when you connect your account, Google will say:
goo.gl lite is requesting permission to:
Manage your goo.gl short URLs
I (the author) don't have any access. The token (basically a login cookie) is stored on your machine.
This addon is very useful. Thank you.
But when will the 1.9 be available?
It is available now at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/googl-lite/versions/ .
Right-clicking still works for me, using the "Copy Goo.gl URL for Image Location" choice.
How does one change the Google account to be used? I uninstalled the extension, deleted prefs, and reinstalled -- and now I get "Authenticating to your Google account failed (null)".
1. Go to about:config
2. Search for token
3. Right-click every entry that includes goo_gl or oauthorizer, and
click Reset. There should be 3 goo_gl, and 1 oauthorizer.
Now, when you click the button, it will have you reauthorize. If you're
logged into the wrong account, you can click the arrow in the upper
right to log out, then log in. You don't need to leave the dialog.
I will try to provide an easier way to do this in a future version.
and flawlessly in Firefox 13.
It is a very good seamless alternative to goo.gl URL Shortener extension for Chrome.
Question to the developer: any particular reason why the version 1.9 is not signed?
1.9 is "preliminary reviewed" as Mozilla terms it. They didn't grant fully reviewed because my add-on includes oauthorizer. Also, that add-on/resource (not the code I wrote) uses synchronous AJAX in parts. I haven't had a chance to fully discuss or address this. However, I believe the current add-on is safe to use.
Greatest thanks to developer for making v1.9, it works flawlessly on the latest FF beta. I was a bit worried when v.1.81 stopped working. Thanks for Joe.T for mentioning to add "versions/" at the end of the addon URL to be able to download 1.9. Love it! Fantastic addon!
Thank you for your work to get this extension updated! 1.9 is working great.
For those using Firefox betas, add "versions/" to the end of the addon's URL, as 1.9 is listed as possibly incompatible with 13beta.
Great extension, use it all the time!
Ran this add-on for a few days flawlessly; then it started failing, with the returned error:
Goo.gl Lite: Short URL Creation Failed: Goo.gl returned error message: Invalid Captcha
I uninstalled then reinstalled with no effect.
Sorry, this add-on is a failure.
Could you please add the choice whether or not to display the message?
Otherwise, it is awesome.
I always use and has been very helpful to me. But she could have other resources.
I have made a lot of use of this add-on since randomly finding it a few months ago. However, I now have three Macs using Firefox 5 and it has been automatically disabled on two of them (why not the third? I have no idea). Please update for FF5! Thanks!
Well done Mate.. Bravo
This add on is great. It stores all shorten URLS into your Google account, so you can track clicks on them. goo.gl lite is simple, easy to use and light weight.
It's better because it use goo.gl with ur account google not same other add-on
was using it every day, but since it does not save the url to my google repository anymore i switched to cutyfox which can also use some other shorteners.
anyway a nice addon if you just use goo.gl!
It was working perfectly fine until yesterday that I got the upgrade message of Firefox. Once Goo.gl lite was upgraded to 1.8 it does not save the shortened URLs to my google account anymore. That was a really useful feature for those of us who track our shortened URLs stats constantly :(
i agree with linh.nguyen .... it doesn't save my URL into my own account..
This works exactly as advertised, but doesn't save the stats to your own account it seems. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars for me.
I am repeatedly having the issue that the goo.gl icon disappears after closing firefox. It does not even appear in the customize toolbar as an option.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and the same thing.
Any one else having this issue?
Really a 5-star add-on! Would like to see an option to disable to confirmation pop-up.
Good stuff. Would be good set be able to optionally set my own auth header so that the shortened links could be stored against my own Google account.
