Tab Mix Plus has this Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I've not used this but, just to let you know, this functionality comes with Tab Mix Plus (TMP), which a lot of people have already. It's enabled from TMP Options > Menu > Main Context Menu > Show in Main Context Menu | Open Links in New Tabs.

For selected text that is not a web address, instead of pasting the selection into the location bar and leting google do its magic, this selection loads a useless page full of affiliate links.

Very Useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It really sucks when URLs are not linked to the website, but with this add-on you can simply highlight the URL and go there!

Any plans on updating for FF 4.0???

you cant create go to selection to google transtation Rated 2 out of 5 stars

hello my name is too good is its application
but I am obliged to consult the following
you could make an extension called "selection to go to google transtation"

and one can choose which language to translate language
this can be chosen by default or through a menu, maybe I can have default languages
I hope I can do

Look at it this way: it would be more convenient because some pages are in English or Russian or German to get access to them (with your apliaciones)
I have to go to google translator and paste the url again, with this application that would directly mentioned.
thanks

Whould have been great if it would show in the menu only when text link is selected and would not show up when plain text is selected.

Great addon... almost as useful such as another one that was suspended by Tommaso Beniero.
"add http:// if protocol is missing" I think is not necessary because browser add automaticaly if is needed.
Much better and fast will be if You add some shorcuts.. examples:
Shift+O = Open in New Tab
Ctrl+O = Open in New Window
Alt+O = Open

Too small buffer for new URL Rated 2 out of 5 stars

As I found there was a limitation on buffer size -- 150 characters.
Some file exchange services place full file name into URL, so please increase buffer.
I mean, to size of selection (no reason to open *part* of selected URL).

Great addon Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hi. Thanks for this addon.

I got used to this feature as an Opera user and then really missed it when I switched to Firefox.

I find it very useful to avoid some links that opens in new window/tab, or in some forum messages where links are in plain text.

Also in some composed URLs where the text shows your target address but if you check the link it goes something like
http://www.something.com/link.cgi?url=http://www.yourtarget.com.

Sometimes it's just a counter but often it opens ads or show you the target page within a frame which I find really annoying.

Good job.

Vanishes from the context menu after opening as little as one tab until Firefox is restarted then the same thing happens again. It doesn't make any difference if any of the boxes are checked under the Functionality setting because it doesn't change anything, the extension still shows in the context menu until you've opened a tab or two, more if you're lucky, before it disappears completely.

Nice add-on! Now if I could only combine this one with Advanced URL Builder to make add-on installation fast, that would be cool!

Excellent! Except, if you run with larder fonts/system dpi, the options dialog is too small for the contents (the OK button is not visible).

4.99 stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This extension is exceptional in its field.
I have a live example here to demonstrate why it's so incredibly useful:
http://tokyotosho.com/details.php?id=61235
In the "Comment:" field on that page is a text link.
You can select the text like this: http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk133/arimfe/whitespacekilled.png
And it works with this extension!

Now instead, try to copy/paste that text link into a new tab...You will see that normal copy/paste with ctrl+C/ctrl+V DOES NOT WORK!
It doesn't work because that website inserts random whitespace in the comments field so you can't copy the link unless you have this extension.

For this reason alone the "Kill Whitespace" single-mode is worth 4 stars!

This extension has another good feature which lets me remove focus to the new tabs so they are opened into the background. This is VERY useful when I need to open several links individually so I don't have to change tabs back and forth when I open a new link and need to open another.
That was +1 more star.

My 1 and only wish with this extension is better placement in the context menu:
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk133/arimfe/GotoSelectioncontext.png
In this situation I have manually selected an already parsed url, it is logical to assume that my manual selection should have higher priority than a parsed url (especially a potentially wrongly parsed url), so the New Tab: "http..." should be placed higher than standard "Open link in new window"

But this is just my opinion in the end. If you improve this last aspect then I'd gladly make this review a full 5.0 stars.

AMO used to host another extension with some of these capabilities called Smart Link, but it has been deleted...I'm really glad I found this extension.

Works, but sporadically. It has never worked for more than 2 links. Invariably 3rd link is incomplete and subsequent ones are missing.

this Adds is not working with ssl sites "https"

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

Not possible

This feature is not supported since there is no way to determine if an URL without protocol-specifier leads to a web-site using HTTP over SSL/TLS (https) without connecting to the server.\r\n
