Meet the Gmail S/MIME Developer

Why was Gmail S/MIME created?

I got involved with Gmail S/MIME because it offers users a way to get real end-to-end privacy and confidence in their e-mail messages. Using this add-on, users can communicate with a recognized, standardized protocol that is built into every major software-based e-mail client. The last great frontier is webmail, and that is where we can make a big difference! I have heard from many people and organizations around the world about how our software enables them to communicate in commercially sensitive, politically sensitive, or actively hostile environments, frequently preventing embarrassing situations, and sometimes even saving lives. Our software empowers people to communicate at their fullest potential.

What's next for Gmail S/MIME

Your contribution will go to sustaining development as we add great features to the next versions of Gmail S/MIME and other software! For example, we have been looking into signature verification and support for additional HTML features.
