Amazing Protection! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This has replaced NoScript for me (but can work alongside it as well). I can finally enjoy the web again.

This is my favourite addon for Firefox.
Ghostery lets you block every commercial and corporation cookies, in order to make you surf on the web without leaving personal traces.
Every site is full of this kind of tracking software, that catch your information without letting you know, and try to reconstruct user behaviour from statistical analysis in order to make a more personalized advertising. So, if you want to navigate in a really secure and private way, just download Ghostery, configure it in simple passages and forget it. It really works!

In an age where corporations and government's are becoming more intrusive into our privacy, this add-on is a God send. Thank you to the programmers! I never realized exactly how many things were imbedded in a single website page to track people who use it. As soon as I heard Mozillia stepped up to combat CISPA, I downloaded Firefox immediately. So glad to be using this product, along with this add-on!!

Security as a future trend Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this add-on, because it gives me control on who's tracking me while browsing. As the Internet will get more and more rellevance in our lifes, security (it's an attitude, remember :-D) will became more and more important, and Ghostery educates us in this complex subject.
I'm concerned (and everybody should be, IMHO) on everyday security, as our social life is relying strongly on ICT devices, and I see my friends & relatives not very worried about it. Mozilla and FOSS movement cares about it, and so do I.
Nevertheless, Ghostery works! If you use Collusion, which shows you graphically the tracking underlying your browsing, you can't see nothing when Ghostery is blocking. Easy to use, easy to configure, it makes you feel more protected, and you an learn who's interested on your information page by page. Not so intrusive as mentioned. Almost no CPU load, AFAIK. Great job. I love it. Thank you, people.

This is by far one of my favorite add-ons! It tells me how many trackers there are per page and blocks them for me. For what it does, it's simple, light, doesn't make my browser slow and doesn't stand in the way of comfortable browsing unlike other add-ons that I frequently have to tone down.
I feel better knowing that trackers are getting the auto-boot while I get to browse unhindered. I'd recommend this add-on to anyone wishing to see what/who/why they are being tracked.

A Must Have Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

While this add-on is not yet perfect, I found that this go around it is vastly improved since initially trying about a year ago. There are some false positives, true but the positives far outweigh the negatives for me. What really drew me back to this add-on is it's ability to stop Facebook from tracking me across the Internet even after I've logged out. I also really like the fact that the developers make it a one click action to find out what the tracking cookies/scripts, etc are and what they do. I am seriously considering making this my permanent blocker and maybe even getting rid of NoScript. Keep up the great work guys!

A fantastic add-on. I have shared this with many of my friends who are also impressed. The WWW is a wonderful thing, but when companies and corporations start using it to violate your privacy and keep track of everything that everyone does online, it starts getting out of hand. I fully support any effort to keep this from happening.

I have two problems with this, one is that despite turning off Ghostery and whitelisting domains, on some sites (livejournal, youtube, wikipedia image page) it made the page continuously refresh and so scrolling and logging in was impossible. In some cases (youtube and wikipedia) whitelisting the entire site, turning off image scanning, etc fixed things... but this made it so that a lot of things that should otherwise be blocked weren't, because I had to unblock lots of different things in order to figure out what was causing the problem. But in Livejournal's case even when Ghostey was supposedly turned off, the domain was whitelisted, and I restarted Firefox, it didn't fix anything until I actually deactivated Ghostey entirely in the add-on preferences.

The other thing is that I found the pop-ups of the names of which sites are tracking you to be really annoying. If you go on a major site, maybe you have fifteen places tracking you and that makes a pretty big pop-up. I don't care to know which places are tracking me on every single page of the site, I just want the program to block them. I deactivated what I thought was the option that shows you this popup, but nothing changed after that.

It's also that in some cases (like youtube) you have to whitelist a specific tracker for the site to work. But on another site the same tracker isn't necessary. So it would be good if, when you go to whitelist a specific one, there's an option to do it either entirely or for this specific domain.

I really like the idea but in the end it didn't actually work very well (maybe it works fine if you don't go on any major sites) so I had to get rid of it.

I like to have control over who tracks me on the internet; I am fine with a web site tracking me while I'm there, but what bothers me is third parties running scripts and cookies in the background. Ghostery allows me to prevent that without having to globally block JavaScript, making maintaining privacy easy without blocking legitimate scripts (at least in my experience). Also, IMO, this is better than DNT+, as pages load faster and Ghostery isn't trying to sell me something.

Keep up the good work and would love to see similar work (like an ad-blocker) from you guys.

The add-on is very good and does a good job at protecting your privacy and seems to update at least once a week with new trackers. The only reason it only received 4 stars is because you cannot white list certain trackers on certain sites. For example I would like to white list 24/7 Real Media on 4oD as without doing this you cannot watch anything. Only a minor inconvenience though.

Privacy was once lost, but now is found.

In a world where making a fake name on Myspace of Facebook is a FEDERAL CRIME(5 years), CISPA is actually contemplated as fair by legislatures, and governments talk of regulating identities online-Ghostery arrives with a bang!
I set it to block everything by default. Data miners-blocked, tracking cookies-blocked, analytics-blocked, everything-blocked.
All you need is a proxy ip and you will be intangible.

Great service, keep up the good fight.

I like my privacy, and I like it without having to go to mars to get it. Ghostery is an awesome tool for keeping your internet browsing private. It does however slow down FF a little, but it's worth it for peace of mind.
