I am using Adblock plus to block flash advertisements. However, Adblock doesn't have many options to control cookies of websites. Ghostery is good in blocking cookies and preventing advertisers from collecting private data. I have decided to use this along with Adblock Plus.

Awesome tool Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a must have for anyone who follows anything privacy related online. This tool is amazing at allowing users to see who is tracking them. I love the ability to block certain cookies from getting placed on my computer.

Like Adblock on 'roids Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As a long-time user of Adblock, I've never been fond of advertisers. Recent years a number of big companies have been collecting tons of data (to the point of individually identifying each user and collecting just about everything you can think of) and selling that data to advertisers for big money. This tool informs me of who is tracking me and lets me tell them to "bugger off".

Love This Add On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been wanting a way to get rid of all those annoying Google cookies that seem to slow everything up, especially Google analytics. This blocks them and things just seem to load much faster. Thank You so much!!

Great add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Don't listen to the naysayers. This is a great add-on from one of the few companies out there truly looking out for consumers. Ghostery is all about giving you transparency concerning what so many other companies are doing with your information. We need more companies making products like this that empower the individual user. You'll be amazed at what Ghostery reveals and possibly shocked at just how pervasive online advertising has become in recent years. Who's tracking you now?

Wow! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great add on. I never knew how many tracking cookies there were that were seeing what I do on the internet. however, Ghostery takes out all the websites tracking my moves and make me feel a lot more secure about browsing the web now. Thanks! It keeps my computer safe, takes out all the spyware, ad ware- all the -ware stuff. Combined with Adblock Plus it makes surfing the web a much more pleasant experience.

WTG Ghostery Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am a fan. Back in the Win3.1 / Netscape Navigator/ junkbuster proxy days I learned about stopping the tracking cookies and other junk just so I could browse online with my 28.8 bps modem using a dial up connection and didn't have to suffer through unbearable page load times. Today I use broadband and tend to ignore what junk is getting on my computer as a result. This add-on is perfect for stopping a ton of tracking cookies - which I think are becoming annoyingly omnipresent. I would recommend this add-on to anyone who recognizes what a drag tracking cookies are. It is kind of comforting to know the developers of Ghostery are looking out for Firefox users like me. The truth is tracking cookies and analytics don't really have any impact on what I do online - but that doesn't mean I want them. Yeah, WTG Ghostery.

Works like a charm Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've never had a problem with this program. It's a very pragmatic and useful tool which helps to provide insight about who is tracking you and what the extent of their tracking is. A cute little icon sits on the bottom right hand corner and every time you go to site there's a pop up messages which tells you what programs are being run to track you. From there you can decide to opt out of all trackers. Furthermore, you can click on the little icon and it gives you an explanation of who and what they are.

Very effective tool, I highly recommend!

Turn off blocking for some sites Rated 1 out of 5 stars

A site wasn't working properly..pages linked to dropdown menus wouldn't open or operate properly ...until I turned off ghostery blocking after much trial & error...Whitelisting didn't work. A warning like: "Ghostery may cause some sites not to work properly...if whitelisting doesn't work, turn off blocking." would have saved time griping at site administrator about site defects they didn't cause.

Awesome Add-on; does exactly what it says it does. Also helps to see which sites track what you're doing...

Thanks for developing it! :-)

Not sure what that guy is talking about. Ghostery did not install adware on your system (as stated on their site ghostery.com).

This addon helps protect people's privacy by blocking the ability for advertisers to track you.I use this addon and it's one of the best of the best.

If you install this

1) Go to Tools (menu) and Choose Ghostery->Update Bug Lists
2) Go to Tools (menu) and Choose Ghostery->Manage Ghostery Options
3) Go to the "Blocking" tab and select "All" and choose "On".
4) Optionally and highly recommended, go to the Options tab, select "Enable bug list auto-update" and "Enable ghost count". Also, in the "Whitelist" tab, and add "images.google.com" in the Whitelist to fix the new Google images bug until the next update.

These should be the defaults. It's not so useful without these settings!

(Ghostery + AdBlock + BetterPrivacy + Beef Taco + NoScript = Amazing Protection!)

Pros: Not laggy. Seems to constantly catch backstage tracking ware. I get 3 or 4 list updates each week. That's very cool. That means they're on the ball and keeping Users informed as a policy rather then Microsofts version of "Let enough bugs build up and we'll make a huge Service pack. All the meanwhile leaving Our Users in danger." The setup is super simple. The ongoing use is easy. With about 6 mouse clicks, you're ready to go and in under 8 minutes.

Cons: The fact a product like this is even needed. (No fault of the Developer. I'm proud their are individuals out there willing to build and maintain such an excruciating project.) It's just sad that Online Companies feel the need to track Our every move, in the hopes of extracting Us for every last penny.

If I had to nit-pick and name an issue I've got w/ the add-on, I'd be hard pressed. I'm not sure I could really come up with one without being given a list of choices. I couple this with "proxilla".
I'm not a Conspiracy theorist or tin foil type hat person, I just feel I paid for the Computer, I pay for the internet connection, I deserve privacy. It's a shame it's not given and you've got to take these extra measures, but it's great that their are Individuals willing to build and maintain such projects.

Synopsis: Excellent and highly recommend this add on. Consider adding the addon "proxilla" as well.

I really love it, but I have discovered an issue after using it for a little while: the pop-up bubble in the lower left-hand corner (at least that's where I put it) is covered up by flash animations. This makes it not appear at all on flash sites like Grooveshark. A fix for this would really be appreciated.
