Sends data with all available Wi-Fi networks (even with MAC addresses) every few seconds to Google
Thanks for this wonderful little add-on!
This plugin causes network spikes/lag? on my wireless network, I'm not sure how it does it, but it clearly creates issues every 4-5 seconds as shown on any speed test or even copying files using SMB from a local network share. Basically the speed of the adapter drops to around 1/10th usual speed. Not affected on LAN. Disabling the plugin __immediately__ fixes the problem (after restart), re-enabling it will cause the issue again. You don't even have to be on a webpage for the issue to show! even in settings as the only tab causes the problem. Not sure why or if the application is now rogue but its a issue for sure. Tested using smb and speedtest in internet explorer.

Time overall effort took to find root cause appx 24hours, 2 clonezilla backups later and a clean install. Installing one application at a time (thought it was a intel driver issue).

New locations are not saved. Search for a place are not working.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Works like a charm with FF 34.0. I wonder if it is possible to use longitude and lattitude when searching a geolocation.
NOT work at all..I have to re-install firefox 9, 22, 30, 32, and this simply does not work...change from about config also has no effect
This Addon works in FF30.0
By default when you install this add-on you won't see any button in the toolbar. That makes most of the users think that this add-on doesn't work with their version of FF.
To work with this add-on, go to Menu->Add-ons. Click Extensions tab. From the list, find this Add-on and click on Options button.
A new tab with map gets opened. Create a new GeoLocation and move the marker pointer to whichever location you want (on the map) and click save. Give a appropriate name for this location so you can remember it and click Save.
I hope above explanation helps someone.
The author of this Add-on should give this How To Use guide in the description note.
Currently does nothing (for me at least) under FF30.0
Currently can't get any functionality out of this addon at all.
Add-on does not work. I installed it and ... nothing. Just a big map. Location searches ... nothing. You can click the search button for eternity with no results.
Browser: Firefox v30.0
I'm changing my last review. I upgraded my Firefox 25 to 29 and the Geolocator extension worked again!
This WAS the best add-on, but now it doesn't work!! Please fix/update/help.. something! anyone... :(
Like some of the more recent commentators, I was unable to save new geolocations. But I stumbled on a easy fix: When you've finished defining the new location, you'll find see a blank "Country" field at the bottom of the Geolocation Address panel. Click on the blank field; a drop-down list appears, also blank except for a "-" on the top line; click on the "-". You can now save the new geolocation.
It's that simple!
I installed the add for FF22 and FF26, but in neither of the two the add work. :( !
This worked great under 23.0.1 Ever since when a web page tries to access a destination, it just hangs up. I've recently upgraded to FF 26 and the problem still persists. Has anyone had any luck getting this to work with new versions of FF? Developers - what say you? When this works it's great, but not so great now.
Works if you use ASCII characters in adresses. Or fix it in about:config > extensions.geolocater.localhost
Dear below reviewer,
The block caps are also a nice touch.
DOES NOT WORK!! GREAT IDEA, BUT TOTALLY USELESS!!
Geolocator did not light up the "Save" icon, or allow my location to be saved until I clicked the "Toggle search mode" icon and entered my postal address. However, it is working fine now that is done.
(Found using firefox 22.0 on XP SP3)
Absolutely annoying! Doesn't work at all!!!
Great! Absolutely needed when living in a big city and want to use geolocationbased webapps.
I'm using version 1.7.1 on FF 20.1 and it's great!
Thank you very much, debugging is much easier!
Hello, I love this plugin, but it breaks version 20.
I am having the same problem with being able to save in FF20. I am able to create a new edition, but once I try to save, it doesn't take. It is one start until fixed then 5 stars
First time worked than never.
