Hello, I installed the addon and there is no toolbar icon to start it. I hope it will be fixed soon! The other stars will come after the fix.

cannot instal Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Hi,
I would like to add this extension, but after instaling and restarting Firefox nothing happens (I cannot see the icon of the GPX Downloader). Can you help please? my email: vonbronin@gmail.com

even though it says not to report bugs here, i couldn't find any other place - and this will help the person who reported traditional caches not working.

for me, the solution was to change "groundspeak:type" tag from "Traditional Geocache" to "Traditional Cache" - that also matches the gpx files downloaded from gc themselves. plugin author might want to make the same change for the "type" tag, too.

another problem is that cache id has extra string appended : "&lcn=1"

other than these two problems, works great :)

Works very well for single caches.

A great addition would be if it could mass download several caches at once, from a map or a search listing.

Issue with traditional caches not shown Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent tool, but now there seems to be an issue with traditional caches. On an Oregon 600 they do not show up any more, all other cash types do!?

some problems Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Hello,
GPX downloader installed in my Firefox V28.0 doesn't work. I'm using Firefox 27.0.1 in German language installed on Windows 7 64Bit (German).
I open map with geocaches and klick to GPX downloader icon. The addin shows a message "Downloading logs" and "Please wait while log are being downloaded...". I stops this after 15 minutes. Same I tried with table view. Also changed website language from German to English language. A message "Unable to extract cache_name from current page. Make sure the current page is a full cache listing."
Thank you for some hints to download GPX files.

Andreas

This extension only works on a page that describes a single cache, e.g.

Very usefull add_on, thank's to the author,
Unfortunately, since a few weeks spoilers are not downloaded. Could this come from my GC basic account limitations?

Great add-on, I use it since last summer.

A great feature would be support for storing pictures in the directory structure as needed by garmin-paperless-geocaching:

http://garmin.blogs.com/softwareupdates/2012/01/geocaching-with-photos.html

(But I guess that's not trivial)

First, thanks for this add-on.

I can make GPX file just fine and I can import it to my mobile phone application but cache size is not working properly. Cache size is allways shown as "not chosen".

I'm using Firefox 15.0.1 and Nokia mobile phone with Geocaching live beta application.

EDIT: I might have found what is cause of this... Size tag should be start with capital letter.
IS: <groundspeak:container>small</groundspeak:container>
I changed to: <groundspeak:container>Small</groundspeak:container>

I've found the problem, you have to "Customize" the toolbar and add the button wherever you want.

Thanks for the report. The problem is that in your geocaching profile, you have the date format set to month/day/year, so you probably see 03/15/2008 as the date when the cache was hidden. Unfortunately the extension can't know if that is month/day/year or day/month/year (think of 02/01/2008), so it just displays warning and assumes day/month/year (which is wrong in your case). I can fix the extension so that it won't make invalid files with 15. month like in this case, but you would be better off if you changed the date format to any other available.

You can always find the most recent version here, it's usually fixed within hours:

Due to the review process it takes ages until it is available on addons.mozilla.org.

Great plugin. One request would be to handle search pages and do a batch download of all visible results, perhaps with the option of saving it all to one large gpx (my gps likes having all caches in one gpx file) or individual gpx files.
<br>As a Linux user, I would love to be able to do something like this from the command line (perform a search on geocache.com and download the first n number of hits into one gpx file) but this plugin is the closest I have found so far. <br><br>Thanks so much for all your work.

<br><br>EDIT: I have found this set of tools that seems to do much of what I was after (batch downloading, merging gpx files, and a lot more). http://geo.rkkda.com/ I just thought I'd post it in case it helps others or can give some ideas to the developer :)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.120224.1-signed).

Batch downloads are high on my (long) priority list. The problem is with parsing webpages that aren't open in FF at the moment.

Very useful add-on. Thanks!

Just one small problem though: It register the shortcut Ctrl-Shift-M for some kind of debug dump file. That interferes with the Multifox add-on. Please disable it, or move it to some even more obscure key.

I've added the option to disable keyboard shortcuts to the new version (just submitted for review).

used this for a year or so and it is a great program...wish it was an actually downloadable exe. Also, just got a Explorist GC and tried to use this add-on...But, Geocaching.com has changed the log format and this add-on will no longer work in its current version. Hopefully the developer can adjust the program to read the new log format and I (and others) will be back in business. Cannot afford the premium membership so this is great for me.
After looking at the Preferences JScript for this, maybe if there is an option to turn off the log search (I don't look at the logs on my GPSr), then maybe this program would work again. :)

"Geocaching.com has changed the log format"
It takes a long time for a new version to be reviewed and published on this site. If you want it sooner, you can find the download link in the addon description above.

"wish it was an actually downloadable exe"
The addon actually uses a lot of code from Firefox, like HTML sanitizing, parsing, cookie management. The best way to do that would be to make it a standalone application based on Gecko, like Prism (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mozilla-labs-prism/). Anyone has a spare time to play with it? ;-)

can you add settings to create gpx file
- without descriptions (short and long)
- without logs
- with "<wpt....>....</wpt>" instead of "<rtep ....>....</rtept>"
?

Just saw that my first post somehow vanished....
I had congratulated you on your excellent add-on and suggested some (smal) enhancements:

when exporting the additional waypoints as a route you could add the type of the waypoint (parking, stage, etc.) by looking at the name of the icon they use in the waypoint table.

Below you find my quick solution for it. If there is reason to believe that the additional tag could break compatibility with some programs then you could add a checkbox in the settings and let the user decide if they want it or not.
Maybe you could also add the notice of an additional waypoint as a route point comment, but there are not that many notices so it's not really a must-have...

Thanks for your great work and hope I could help a bit...

Very usefull addon if it would work with the great GCzII geocaching tool (best geocaching program for windows mobile).

Now the gpx from your addon can't be imported :-(

I had a deeper look in the original gpx file from geocaching.com (premium member download) and in your gpx file and the first and most important lines your file missed were these two lines:

< groundspeak:country >Germany< / groundspeak:country >
< groundspeak:state >Bayern< / groundspeak:state >

When they are in the gpx file from your addon I can import it in GCzII !!! ;-)

Here a few more things I noticed:

- No log entries are imported
(here I think the reason is your file misses the encoded=[TRUE/FALSE] variable)
your file looks like
< groundspeak:text >cooles verstek< / groundspeak:text >
and correct is
< groundspeak:text encoded="False">cooles verstek< / groundspeak:text >
for example

- A lot of < ! [ CDATA [ at beginning of text and ] ] > at the end of this text are in your files

- Your date values looks like
< groundspeak:date >2010-07-18T00:00:00< / groundspeak:date >
and the correct ones from premium download looks like
< groundspeak:date >2010-07-18T19:00:00Z< / groundspeak:date >

- your finder in the log looks like
< groundspeak:finder id="83633418-eeaf-4247-aaeb-16a06175cd65" >
and the correct ones from premium download looks like
< groundspeak:finder id="2503122" >username< / groundspeak:finder >

As said it would be really great if you can take my words into next update so the GCzII user can benefit from your addon!!!!

Thanks
