Good functionality, but it doesn't support the modern firefox feature -- multi-process usage to effectively distribute the load.
First, i installed this just because i didnt find any anlogs, but...
Its feels like this app is just rough sketch!
There is NO filters
There is no sorting
No, i didnt mean you cannot change sorting by columns, i mean output this add-on shows is just rundomly mixed mess of various domains without any sane order.
Oh, right, there is Copy as CSV button, which actually DO copies all that mess into clipboard.
No, this addon cannot able even to save it in file, no no no.
And its cannot modify or import any data/
So, lets cut it in short - all that ddon can do is to exctract youd localstorage entries in very raw CSV format, which then should be processed, sorted and used in external editor.
Without filtering or sorting capabilities, it's next to useless.
This plugin is usefull to me as I create HTML5 games so I can have a quick look at the data I save in the localstorage. However it really needs one more feature : a checkbox to display only a certain domain, not all domains at same time because it is always a horrible mess, or at least it should sort the results by domain. Another nice simple feature would be to be able to delete the selected entry just by pressing the delete key, instead of cleaning everything.
The UI limitation make this addon hardly usable at all. It is missing all basic feartures and with too many localstorage entries the scrollbar can't even get you to show the last entries.
Fills firefox missing the feature of viewing what is stored.
Very slow (unneededly, think caused mainly by not trimming values in display) when viewing in a normal (long time) in-use profile.
UI is very limited, cannot be sorted or filtered, window cannot even be resized, refresh button does nothing (have to close and re-open window to see updates) and it fails to show "session data" (if you force all cookies to be session cookies, HTML5 DOM Storage data is also only kept for the current session and that session data never appears in the window). All in all I cannot recommend this addon.
I've only used this for a few days. The main thing I wanted it for was to check localstore of add-ons installed in browser, but unfortunately this only seems to support checking websites. Maybe I just didnt discover that functionality though. Also - would be nice if UI had a few more basic options (like 'search').
I want to propose some functionalities:
1. filter field (a text field) in the main window of the plugin so we easy find sites
2. resizable and/or maximizing main window of the plugin
3. right click popup menu with some items like (edit, delete)...
One of the very few Firefox add-ons to handle Firefox DOM storage. Works perfectly well.
My hopes for Xmas :
1- A toolbar button ;
2- A switch on the add-on's GUI to enable/disable DOM storage (at this time, only "dom.storage.enabled" setting in about:config) ;
3- Cherry on the cake : a whitelist for "permission to store" on a per-site basis.
I'm thinking of a whitelist rather than blacklist because sites that require dom.storage.enabled to be "true" are, in my experience, seldom. I encountered 2 sites that will not perform without DOM storage (be it with Firefox or IE) : wikimapia.org and geoportail.gouv.fr, , both mappers. Strange enough, both require DOM storage but neither stores whatever data !
EDIT: Firefox's about:home search engine feature won't run without DOM storage as well.
Thanks Santa, more seriously, thanks to the author(s) of "Foundstone HTML5 Local Storage Explorer"
Claims not to collect data. Works solid so far. Thank you very much! I'd just wish that there where an option to withlist domains that may set HTML5 local storage.
Cool. Proactive control, please!
Great for viewing ALL localStorage at once; you do not have to visit each site.
Likewise, it's great for clearing ALL localStorage at once.
Alas, it has two shortcomings, the first one is major. There is no way to selectively delete individual items. Also, a way to set and edit items would be nice.
@Joe - Thanks for using the add-on.
Will investigate and incorporate the selective deletion of individual items feature.
Also, the editing functionality is already present in v1.0. If you double click an individual item, then it takes you to a "Detailed Window" where you can modify the item. We realize that it is not very intuitive at this time and will investigate ways to make it more user friendly in the future versions.
@Drivers666 - We have fixed this in version 1.1. The version is currently awaiting a full review from the Firefox Add-Ons team.
