What happened to all the Forecast bar integrations? I loved my status bar current/week view at a glance. Now I have to purposefully open the icon to view anything relevant. The NEW temperature in the icon might be useful if it didn't obscure the current conditions icon below it. Way to ruin one of my most useful add-ons. I hope they fix this quickly, or I'll be looking for something else.
While the info is all there it's not as handy as the previous version that had all the weather info on the status bar. please consider an option for either format. Thanks
I'll miss it!!!
History of Forecastfox:
This current add-on page you are reading is for "Forecastfox Weather", and it is actually the 2nd version, a fork of the original, which was simply called "Forecastfox", and it was abandoned many years ago.
Rather than contact the original author, Ensolis created Forecastfox Weather. Support was great for a while, but it too has become abandoned, several years ago now.
Rather than coordinate with Ensolis, the developer "Oleksandr" has taken and made yet another fork of this project and called it "Forecastfox (fix version)". Confusing, and annoying to have multiple forks, similarly named, 2 out of 3 defunct. I know. But Oleksandr has done an excellent job, and also has a version available for Chrome browsers.
The only problem now, is that Mozilla has gotten rid of the add-on bar, and gotten rid of XUL, so that the add-on bar can not ever be restored by add-ons in the future. Instead of a row of 9 icons showing me all weather conditions day and night for next 3 days, current weather, emergency alert and current radar, now I will only see one icon, stuck on the navigation bar, cluttering up my browsing, and located in a visually and hand straining area.
I type in Needles, California, where I live and it gives me New York, New York. I guess it filled in and didn't pay attention when I started writing the Ne
In win10, firefox 47+ and earlier, the add-on freezes all the time.
On Firefox 47.0 (Ubuntu 14.04) it doesn't appear in any toolbar. It's like it doesn't exist. Totally unuseful.
Took it seems forever to get correct city. Why have New York,NY as default is strange. How to uninstall?:
I don't have a PayPal account and will not get one.
Too bad that's the only way to pay.
Its a great app, but the radar never updates. Its been a bug from the begininng
works fine on #45
Excellent add-on! I've loved using it for years. However, there's a newer version that fixes problems with this one. (This add-on version really should be removed from the Mozilla directory.) You can get the new (fixed) version of Forecastfox here:
Last Updated: October 6, 2012 Maybe this is why you cant get it to work anymore so stop posting that you cant use it anymore.
With constant new versions of FF, this app is fraught with incompatibility, I can't add or change locations and trying to choose the "options" locks up FF, so having to always shut down and restart....newest version of FF is 44.0b
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this app ... when it works.
"Not compatible with Firefox 43.0"
Not much love right now.
This is a fine app. The "incompatible with the latest version of Firefox" issue is my only complaint. So, to help them, and you, I'm linking a fix for this problem. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Editing_an_add-on_to_change_its_compatibility
Well, the title says about everything. It just keeps going out of date from newer Firefox versions. I'll even pay money. Please keep this add-on going. There's nothing like this for FF anywhere else. Thanks for the fixed version sir, but we're 2 versions ahead already, guess what broke again?..Sigh..
You need to keep this compatible as you update Fire Fox. It is so much better than any of the other weather add-ons.
This is the original version of Forecastfox, which was and is the best weather addon for Firefox, hands down. Sadly, the original dev abandoned it. (Aww...) Happily, a chap from the Ukraine has issued a fixed version. (Yay!) Get the fixed version, which works fine in Firefox 41...
After a long fight with the add-on not working anymore, I found the cloned "fix version", which does the job on my FF 33 at home.
At work, I need to use FF 17.0.11, and there the "fix version" is NOT compatible. Even editing the FF version in install.rdf doesn't help.
Anyway, a comment at the clone add-on has led me back to here, and THIS add-on seems to be working fine again.
Why is Firefox saying that Forecastfox is incompatible with Firefox 37.0.1 ?
It is working fine. Please remove the incompatibility flag.
This is by far the best toolbar weather app! Love how it has the forecast for X days, plus super awesome that you hover over the radar symbol and a nice animated radar appears!
Many, many thanks for bringing this back -- by far the best weather forecast add-on.
Works fine on Waterfox 34.01 (even though the add-ons page says it's not available for FF 34.01).
I like it in the toolbar at the bottom of the page (default location) where it's immediately noticeable. If you don't have a toolbar (which Mozilla keeps trying to kill, for unknown reasons), search the add-ons to find a toolbar restorer.
Please Update it for Firefox 36.0
This is the best weather add on!!!
