Compact, helps to avoid some dodgy sites, I like the Whois facility, thanks to the developer!
It's not that I use it everytime but satisfies your occasional curiosity regarding the location of the server.
Really appreciate the update provided by developer regularly to make it precise.
If an addon like this is not accurate, then what is its value?
I've used Flagfox before.
After a reinstall of my PC I couldn't remeber the name of this useful add-in.
Now I'll never forget it!
Thanks a lot!
Dave G YOU ARE GENIOUS!! WORKS PERFECT EVERYTIME - NEVER CRASHED SO FAR.... GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT WEBSITES THAT REALLY WANT TO HAVE THEIR SERVER IN ANOTHER COUNTRY F. EX. FUNNY TO SEE WITCH ONES EMIGRATED THEIR SERVER TO MICRONESIA AND FURTHER.... i NEVER KNEW BEFORE FLAGFOX.. REGARDS FROM HAPPYFOX711
Very usefull :)
Anyway it's a great addon and keep up the good work.
i love it. i can now know where it came from.
A fun add-on that guesstimates reasonably well where the server for a website is located. Like a previous reviewer said, it may not always be exactly right, but the price is right.
Another reviewer asked about alexa rankings, and this plug-in has a nice feature to launch a website with a url template so I believe that should be possible.
A simple and nice utility that will work in most cases,. There are situations though where you might be fooled and you can not know that at all. So Flagfox might actually misinform you, which is the oposite of what this is inteded to do. Here are 2 examples. Our corporate gateway is in Sweden, so all our public web servers will show to you as coming out of Sweden though they are absolutely not based their. Second example, a website I use a lot is hosted over Akamai. Even though it comes out in Sweden to the web, Flagfox will tell you this is hosted out of Europe and show you Switserland as location.
I really like this add-on as it helps me differentiate scam and real websites and gives me more information about the site im visiting.
I would like to see the option to view the alexa.com ranking of the site.. Is this possible?
Smart and useful!
The only thing I'd change is the 'Wikipedia' button, it's useless. I'd prefer more info about the server, ping, tracert or something else using the URL/IP.
Occasionally the Wikipedia lookup is useful to identify an obscure country you may never have heard of, but yeah, most of the time it's quite useless. But hey, it's been in there in some form since version 1.0 (two developers ago) so I just leave it in there with a little context menu entry.
Geotool and whois give you most of the kind of info you're looking for. As to adding other lookups, you can add a custom one in the options menu. For example:
All this does is put a flag in the search bar to tell you where the server is located for the site you are currently at. It helps in determining legitimacy and it's kind of neat. I think it might be possible for people to misrepresent though. I like this together with the Locationbar2 add-on.
Nice extension. I like it. :) Thank you guys.
Very useful, thanks. Only one thing - the pop up note is a bit annoying in spite of the "Don't show this again" checkbox presence. Is it possible to have something like "don't show pop up note" checkbox in properties dialog? I'd like only see the flag.
Sounds non-sense but I love it.
Suggestion A) Add variable timeout for message bar to disappear after a few seconds (like in NoScript) B) Whitelisting of sites (e.g. Google that uses cache servers)
If you have POPUP CHINESE DICTIONARY v1.0 Flagfox and WOT will not work.. Till popup Chinese dictionary v1.0 fix So let you know flagfox a OK :)
Thanks for reporting this. The problem is entirely on their end. Read here:
This is fixed in their extension as of version 1.3.

Excellent time saving tool to see where a site is hosted.
