Inconsistent Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Good attempt but needs improvement. Inconsistency is biggest frustration. It works sometimes, sometimes create new blank windows, existing windows disappear when minimized never to come back.

I use only 1 window, and it's annoying, that whenever I click on the tray icon, a new window appears. This wouldn't be a problem, I close this new empty window, but this makes it "remembered". I suggest two options:
- 1-window mode (don't open new window on click, if there is already one)
- window list on the tray menu: so you could close only some of the windows (now you can close only all of them)

Best minimizer available, but could be even better Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works as advertised:
- can hide the Firefox window to tray when you click the "minimize window" button
- can hide the Firefox window to tray when you click the "close window" button

Why it's better than current (July 2, 2009) alternatives:
- when you have multiple instances of Firefox open, all instances can be minimized (some alternatives will make a minimized instance re-appear when you minimize another instance)
- when you right-click on the Firefox icon in the tray, a pop-up menu appears with options to Restore minimized window(s), open a new window, show the downloads window, or exit Firefox.

Suggestions for improvement:
- when a Firefox window is open, and you click on the Firefox icon in the tray, a new instance of Firefox is launched; this is annoying; a new window should only open when one selects "New Window" from the pop-up menu that appears by right-clicking on the icon.
- an option should be added to the pop-up menu to be able to close all open instances of Firefox, except for one window which shows the homepage set by the user in Firefox's Options (de facto, this is equivalent to exiting Firefox and restarting it).

Please edit "Options Menu".

I think that to avoid confusion you should rename the extension as there is another one with the exact same name.

The program works fairly well in Win7-64 with Firefox 3.5 Preview.
Only problem is the close minimizes to tray even though unchecked in options.
Other than that a great add on! Many Thanks!

Kinda funny how the sample picture shows a download of Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope, even though this has no Linux support. Please, please develop a version for Linux.

Rating for Firefox: MAJOR problem - it NEVER closes 'Fox EVEN when you X-close out of 'fox and have it set to do so. While I *want* T'bird to behave this way so it can d/l every 1-5 minutes (depending on acct), coming in AM and opening minute 'Fox icon scares me when I see last page(s) I was browsing still open! I hope for a v.2, perhaps dividing 2 add-ons for 2 apps!
(Full Disclosure 64-bit XP on I7 system which may change things)

Brilliant! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

this is a really good add on, especially with firetorrent, but it would be better adding a minimise to tray button next to minimise, maximise and close buttons. the new window and show download buttons are handy. 4/5

Great Tool, Except... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

FireTray is a handy tool. It does what it says it will do and does it well.

Unfortunately, I had to uninstall it because it changed all of the Firefox 3.0.9 window titles on the Windows XP Pro Task Bar to 1 character titles. So, on the task bar "Reviews for FireTray" became "R".

I wondering if this is due to a a conflict with another add-on. I'm mentioning this here because I don't know if it is a bug in FireTray, a conflict with another Add-On, or a bug in another Add-On.

If anyone has seen this, I'd like to know about it.

By the way, I don't see a support section anywhere. The support link goes to a sign-up for a beta testing program.

Mac support? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Any chance for this being developed for Mac OSX?

Would definitely use this addon if it had "Minimize to tray on startup" option (like MinimizeToTray Enhancer) and option to disable "Restore Window" and always open blank one. This would provide real "turbo" mode.

Also I still don't understand how restoring windows works. If I close one window it can be restored but if I close two windows sequentially none of them can't be restored.

And yes, there is nothing about FireTray on the website you have link to.

Everything else seems to work smoothly. Nice work!

Please add the ability to close all windows (leave blank open) and close to tray on clicking X (close). This would make this program really useful for quick starting firefox when needed.
