  • Having a habit of grouping tabs by window (like, YT, Vimeo etc. videos in one window, Facebook and Twitter in another and so on), I enjoy this add-on for years. Missing a couple of features, but none of them vital.

  • Excellent plugin! nice work. I regularly have many windows open each with their own set of tabs. Combining this plugin with 'small buttons' and 'never collapse' taskbar settings in windows means you can always see and directly open the browser window you need by the name you've given the window.

Unfortunately, Firetitle won't work on Firefox Quantum (≥57) because of the API changes. But there is a full rewrite: "Crappy Firetitle" (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/crappy-firetitle/) that should work quite ok.

  • In-dis-pen-sable !

  • FireTitle is one of my top ten extensions for Firefox 56.0.2 –

    https://addons.mozilla.org/collections/grahamperrin/t10/

Without this extension, I'm repeatedly disoriented by the visual chatter of the traditional suffix to each title:

    - Mozilla Firefox
    - Mozilla Firefox
    - Mozilla Firefox
    - Mozilla Firefox
    - Mozilla Firefox

    – and so on, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox, as if I need reminding that it's Mozilla or Firefox, which is inappropriate when (as with web most pages on the Internet) the page is about neither Mozilla nor Firefox.

  • I hope updating it to webextentions will goes smoothly, otherwise I'm lost in tabs again.

  • This addon is extremely useful. I have 100+ tabs open and group them in to specific function windows. I can tell which is which while they're still in the dock instead of having to hunt through 10 windows worth of stuff every time I'm looking for a tab. Please rewrite this to work with webextensions so that it works in my browser again!

  • By the help of this add-on I was able to group all firefox windows as one block in the window list of my window manager (title pattern "[firefox]t"). Before this, the title of the active tab was the leading part of the window title, leading to scattered entries of the firefox windows in the window list. (This list is sorted alphabetically.) THANX!

  • This is a fantastic add-on. I've been struggling for ages with the number of tabs/windows I have open, and this makes it so much easier to manage. Very simple to use, too. Thanks!

  • Tried more than 5 add-ons to customize a window title, only this one works. Good job.

  • Makes dealing with multiple windows so much easier!

Now waiting for multiprocess support! :D

  • great addon for firefox ,love it

  • Working as a charm, and I can now give my Firefox window the name of the current tab group

  • I need this function, but see a user review from March 2016 that it stopped working in version 45.0. I had to put in a review rating, but really don't have any experience!

  • A must have for those who like me keep open a lot of tabs related to different subjects (work, home, hollidays, etc.)
An improvement could be to change the color of window title also

  • Hello, excellent addon, I really appreciate your work.

Is it possible to increment numbers in the title for each new tab/window?

I would love to be able to set the title for the first window opened in Firefox to 1, then the next window/tab (preferably have the option of either/or so people can choose what they want) named 2, the third 3, and so forth.

Something like 1++ would be so the next tab/window is 2, then 3, then 4, etc.

I've been trying to find a way to do that with things like Greasemonkey and other addons, but can't seem to figure it out.

If you could add that functionality, I would be forever grateful!

  • I had this super awesome Add-ons working on Firefox 44.0 but as soon as I upgraded to 45.0 figured out that using "g" flag will break this addon, I think this is due to removal of tab groups in new firefox

  • Perfect add-on if you use multiple Windows of Firefox. Each one can be named to be recongnized easier.
Changing the icon symbol (or its color) would be even greater, but maybe OS-specific and more difficult to implement.
Thank you and keep on with the good work!

  • I use this because I want to find specific windows with a macro; but it would be useful for anyone who likes to keep different things going in different windows. This makes it very easy to find the one you want - even easier than Tab Groups. It has very nice options that give a great deal of control over the naming.

  • Very Cool addon, very useful.

Unfortunately It does not work at all with the tab preview addon I really like Tab Popup 1.2.3

  • This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

  • This plugin is really helpful.I usually browse with hundreds of tabs open, sorted in 6-7 windows by subject. This plugin makes my browsing easier. Also, I might have noticed a small bug. When I use the [text] option in the title pattern but enter no text, my browser hangs. I'm using Firefox 23.0 in Ubuntu. Thanks, guys, for writing this cool plugin! Tal

  • Это дополнение не полностью удаляется, что нарушает работу Firefox 24.0 (Win8x64). Пришлось удалять вручную через about:config (firetitle).

  • I love this add-on. I have alt+w on rename tab. (And alt+q on view all tabs.) The only deficiency is that it doesn't remember window names after restarting.

    Edit:
Oh.. one more thing! Feature request. I would really, really, really like a 'pattern element' for number of tabs in a window.

  • Indispensable and wonderful when it works, but .5.4-1 does not work for me, nor did .5.3-5 (see my review below). Same problem--I fill in the name I want, hit enter or click the apparently misnamed (and very confusing) 'cancel' button which is to be used instead of 'apply' as there is no 'apply,' and see no change. I cannot title any windows, either ones opened by a restart or ones I open from that/those. I shall stick with FireTitle 0.5.2-2, which works well. But I dread the day I must update to a newer version of Firefox (12.0 for now) and am forced to do without a working FireTitle, as Firefox's windows shuffle around like mad hornets on my PC. 3 stars--an average of 5 stars for the working FireTitle 0.5.2-2 and 1 star for the last 2 versions, which don't work for me.

Hehe, yes, there seems to be an incompatibility problem with some (not that) old Firefox versions. I'm afraid I released this new version too early and deserve the criticism :)I'll fix that in the next release. Meanwhile, you can still use an earlier version of Firetitle (see the full list of versions of the add-on).

  • Been looking for this for a while. Window titles getting saved between sessions is awesome. So far have found one incompatibility: when switching to tabs that have been unloaded via UnloadTab, that tab makes window title not respect FireTitle's setting. Switching focus to some other "live" tab and back restores order.
