About this Add-on
This addon is actually just a rewrite of MafiaaFire Redirector 0.4b.
Then why use this addon (instead of MafiaaFire Redirector)?
MafiaaFire Redirector hasn't any build-in list of redirected sites. MafiaaFire Redirector download the "redirect list" from 4 websites:
This means that you need to trust all 4 websites (yes also the spooky "ifucksexygirls.com" domain).
If any of these domains suddenly changes "youtube.com" to "crappy-virus-videos.com", then all YouTube links will be redirected to crappy-virus-videos.com.
Another example is that on the official MafiaaFire Redirector "forget" to tell that they also redirect atdhe.net to atdhenet.tv (19-04-2011)
[..] in future we might collect some IP data when you ping our site for updates.
I don't like this behaviour, and I don't trust the websites, so I modified the MafiaaFire Redirector (0.4b) and called it "FireICE"
But I do trust the domains, so why should I start using your addon?
When I modified the MafiaaFire Redirector, I also removed some other stupid behaviour (imo).
As you can see in this code (copy/paste from MafiaaFire Redirector 0.4b:
var quickFilter_100_count_redirect_url='http://www.mafiaafire.com/help_us.php'; if(qucikFilterRedirectCount % 15 == 0)
window.content.location.href = quickFilter_100_count_redirect_url+"?d="+mafiaafireFilterUrl;
The MafiaaFire Redirector will redirect you to a "help_us.php" page, every 15'th time you use the addon. I don't want to get "tracked" and I don't want to "help them". I think this should be up to the user (e.g. by having a "remove tracking"-button), but this is not possible, so I just removed it.
I want to "help them", so why should I use your addon?
My addon doesn't download the list (my addon has a build-in list), this mean that my addon is faster. I also removed all the "download and parse xml"-code, so my main code is almost two third (2/3) smaller than MafiaaFire Redirector (and that's with the build-in list).
Also, my addon just replace "oldsite.tld" with "newsite.tld", so if your bookmarked "oldsite.tld/somepage" it will be redirected to "newsite.tld/somepage".
Disadvantage of a build-in list
The only (afaik) disadvantage of having a build-in list, is that I need to make a new addon for each site I want to get replaced, but Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) mostly steals lots of domains on schedule dates, so next time you read about a new move from ICE, then check your addons for new updates :-)
Download the addon and open it with winrar / other zip program and check :-)
This is the ONLY sites that's being redirected:
ALL credit goes to the maker of MafiaaFire Redirector ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mafiaafire-redirector/ ) this is ONLY a rewrite of the addon. I'm not trying to steal credit or anything... I just doesn't like the adware behaviour.
I renamed this addon, to make sure avoid confusion about the two addons - but this is just a rewrite
