Anything I did wrong ? Or anything new ?
I saw no change in the load time, so I opened the task manager before launching the shortcut with -preloader : I see Firefox appear about ten seconds (the time it takes to load), and then disappear.
Version 1.1.1 of the add-on is installed in Firefox (51.0.1, Windows Vista).
I obtained a better result with MinimizedToTray Revived, 1.3.2
I don't know about the 64 bit version, but all I did was add it to XFCE's "Sessions and Startup" dialog, and then disable session-restore in Firefox and it starts up in the background just like it's supposed to.
Fail on user session load on every browser start. So it opened the dialog to recover session, but it's not good.
Developer should add -silent in the description and start minimized.
I use an autohotkey script that detects when I close Firefox and waits 15 secs then runs the shortcut -preloader -silent so I open Firefox fast all the time not just the first time.
I haven't test it yet for I dont reboot often
but will it work as well when start through
and what's the different between
скорость загрузки не меняется, плюс при запуске вылетает ошибка загрузки сессии
Wow! What a speed increase. My primary PC took 3-4 seconds to load Firefox after a cold load and 5-6 seconds on my backup PC. Installed the preloader and now it takes 1.2 seconds to load on my primary PC and 1.1 on my backup PC.
I had the idea to run "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\\firefox.exe -preloader" from the console, and the following is what resulted: INCLUDE ScriptlessBGThumbs: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIXPCComponents_Utils.import]" nsresult: "0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://noscript/content/ScriptlessBGThumbs.js :: TOP_LEVEL :: line 3" data: no] undefined Failed to find nss3 in installed directory, checking system paths.
Perfect ... He said well WhoeverIam 3000, I have many addons installed.
Perfect. I changed it to "Run minimized" and added -silent to the command line: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe -preloader -silent
Now Users do not see anything when the computer starts and are just amazed how fast Firefox loads.
Só uma observação em Windows 64bits ficaria assim:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Firefox.exe -preloader
Отлично работает, спасибо!
Very nice add on just wondering how you can install it in Windows 8
This add-on does what it says. Well done by the developer.
Nice work! I do like such addons that increase startup time or perfomance. Is there similar addon for thunderbird?
Windows 8, Firefox 26
works great with linux
startup-time reduced from 7.5 sec to 3.8 sec (both after a fresh start)
using firefox 25.0-1 and linux 3.12.0-1
It works for me on Linux: FF 22 running on Slackware 13.1. I use the XFCE desktop and all I had to do was add it to the autostart list in Settings > Sessions and Startup. It does what I wanted and doesn't seem to interfere with anything. It's a good plugin.
It is not working with firefox version later 13.0. After the addon was installed and after making the target field changes, the firefox is not loading at all.
Is there a way to use it with firefox / iceweasel on linux?
funktioniert nicht mit aktueller Version
An excellent add-on! FF loads noticeably faster here on my Win 7 netbook.
I don't know what problem the one-star reviewer had... Did he remember to do the 2nd part of the installation, as described above? It's worth the effort.
It works even with the portable version I'm using (like this: "...\FirefoxPortable.exe -preloader"). Improved start up speed is quite noticeable, perhaps twice as fast (or perhaps even only a third of the previous start-up time) with the about 50 add-ons I'm using. For me this add-on is definitely a keeper. Thanks!
Great Addon. One question - does it work on multiple Firefox profiles if installed in just one?
It needs to be installed on each profile, otherwise the command-line argument wouldn't be available.
The speed-up is quite noticeable if you have many addons installed.
