Absolutely the most valuable add-on in my arsenal. One of the major reasons why I do not use Safari more.

Watch/Stack switching Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It is very annoying when debugging a function checking the contents of a variable, that the watch window is suddenly replaced by the stack one

automatic watch of Refered global variables Rated 4 out of 5 stars

When debugging a javascript function, it is not enough to display only the local variables in the watch window, but all, in the function referenced global variables must be shown too.
It could be enough to display them when they are first referenced.

Research before you whinge Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For those who are too lazy to read previous posts or the release notes on the firebug website -

"Disable always: when the Firebug UI is not active on any page, the debugger is disabled (minimal overhead)"

Firebug is an awesome add-on I use daily for work which makes it the single most useful add-on for me. I'm impressed with how quickly it's been updated (beta I know but at least they're trying) to work with Firefox 3. On it's own that incompatibility would have stopped me from upgrading.

For the guy who thinks the IE tool bar is just as good, have you tried debugging javascript? Firebug is 10 times more than any other debug add-on in any browser (maybe only 3 times the web dev toolbar) when you know what you're doing.

Hugely useful, absolutely indespensible extension.

Re. the review below: hardly a fair rating, even if the complaint was wholly accurate, which it is not. While Firebug 1.2 has lost the convenient global disable/enable-per-site option it had before, in its place is the option to separately disable the console logger, script debugger, and network monitoring sections, each of which can be disabled globally and then re-enabled per-site. Very useful indeed if you only ever use the HTML/CSS trace features and don't need the script debugger slowing everything down. If you're still concerned about the performance impact of the HTML/CSS/DOM inspectors (I have no idea what this is in reality) you can always disable the extension when not developing, or just run a separate developer profile as I do.

Beta version yet always don't works on Linux Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The 1.2.0b4 version yet always don't works on Linux with Firefox 3.0.
Bugs on Linux (Debian Lenny): after Firebug install in "Devices" and right-click context menu cannot be found Firebug option and cannot Firebug icon. "Settings" option cannot be used in extensionlist.
Good news: Firebug works on Windows with a full functionality :)

I like Firebug and it is necessary for my work. I hope for it repaired will be on Linux too.

Excellent functionality, very helpful, superb for debugging and testing by Web Developers and QA.
Unfortunately some of the good functions become unintuitive compare with previous release: error console and debugger not longer easy accessible under button for enable/disable and under html tab edit function no longer works.
Overall impression: amazing application with reach functionality - please do not slow down with upcoming releases.

Disable option is missing... Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This version omits the DISABLE and DISABLE FOR THIS SITE features. I now need to go back to Firefox 2.0 so I can use the old version of Firebug.

Firebug is the answer Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I don't know how I'd do my job without Firebug. It's allowed me to have an insight into running Javascript code I've never experienced before. Thank you for creating it!

I love this addon so much.

With localhost development it really speeds up the process. I am building a charting application that sends XML to flash, and I can see the XML content that is returned if the chart does not work right!

Thanks so much for porting this to FF3

Use it every day Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great extension. I use it almost every day.

I run the #webdev channel on DALnet, and I can’t imagine diagnosing people’s HTML problems without Firebug.

There’s only one caveat: It slows Firefox down a bit. For example, it used to take 2.8 seconds for Firefox 3.0 to start up and load the default homepage – with Firebug, it takes 3.4 seconds.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Indispensable! This has to be one of the best add-ons ever produced for web development. Before firebug, we had to make changes, upload them to the site, see what changed, then do it all over again. Debugging stylesheet problems was incredibly hard. With firebug, you see exactly how the inheritance affects your items and see right in the browser what a tweak will do in realtime. Now if only someone would make something as good for IE...or not...
