Finally I found out why I do not have Firefox's own "Find" button:

The button is available with the (ugly) standard skin of Firefox (Default 29.0.1) but not with the skin I use (Winestripe Realfox 4).

But good news:

I just installed the add-on "Find Button" (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/find-button/).
And it works fine with "Winestripe Realfox 4" and "Findbar Tweak". :-))

Sorry for the long correspondence and
thanks again for your patience.

"No, I mean firefox's own "Find" button, it's its own magnifying glass icon. It's in the menu panel by default but you can move it anywhere you want."

O.k. Thanks. For some reason i do not have it. I will have to install the other add-on too.

Please e-mail me or open an issue in the support page about this. You should have it unless it's been hidden (and that other add-on probably won't work in australis).

With new Firefox version the Toolbar Button is missing Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am happy that the excellent FindBar Tweak continues to work with the new Firefox version (I have installed version 29.0.1).

Unfortunately the problem is that the Toolbar Button to open and close the FindBar (= the magnifying glass) obviously is no longer available. :-(

I am aware that the issue is causd by Firefox. But it would be great if the button could be brought back because a click on it was my favourite way to start a search.

Thank you.

Install the latest beta version available in the development channel, at the bottom of the add-ons page. WIth it, you can use the "Find" button now included in firefox by default to toggle the find bar.

Quicksaver, thanks a lot for your reply and for your plans to implement the suggested feature. :-)

Quicksaver, I am so happy that I discovered your add-on! Especially I appreciate the possibility to have the findbar no longer at the bottom but on top of the window. :-) And moreover I already found a number of other nice features offered by your add-on (e.g. the possibility to add in the toolbar an icon for opening/closing the findbar etc.)

You made an excellent and very useful work!

If possible, it would be great to have one more feature in your add-on. Something that is missing in the Firefox-findbar already for years, whereas in the IE or in Opera it is something natural:

The option to search (only) for a whole word (so that for example when typing "nation" I won't get words like "international" and various others in the search results).

Many thanks once more and best wishes,

Thank you very much for your kind words Peter, I'm glad that you like the add-on!

As for the Whole Words search feature, I'm already planning to implement that in the next release (this is actually a pretty popular request). But it's not as easy to make as it sounds, and I only have the time to work on it on the weekends usually, so it might take a while until I release a version with this feature. But it definitely is on my to-do list. :)
