Forward gesture is working, but back gesture don't.
Firefox 38.0.1 on Linux OpenSuSE Tumbleweed.
perfect at what it does! i'm shocked at such sparse and negative reviews. altough there's not much description or documentation, it is a simple thing.
* no it does not support left-handed mouse, unless you are switching the buttons using your hardware drivers, which i thought was always needed.
* yes when going back the context menu appears after releasing the first button if the second button is not pressed in time, but that causes no problem on it's own and only another addon could be making it happen immediately. to make the addon wait longer, use the (one and only) option to increase delay.
* yes, if you are over a link that could be activated too, as with most clicks, the cursor position controls the context of the action.
so this addon is not a problem, it is simple! oh and thankyou @mancalledhero for your hint regarding instaclick. i had been looking for ways to speed up following links into new tabs and returning to index pages as it is a very common action. if instaclick causes me no other problems i can get rid of the 'open in new tab' context menu items which is atop a very long list.
i am using ff 23.0.1 on win7
Great add-on that adds a simple feature which should have become part of about:config years ago. Tiny & efficient, as it should be.
This lightweight extension worked perfectly for me. I used to use gestures extensions (All-in-one gestures), but found that I never did anything except rockers.
To properly do rockers here, you have to press one button first, hold it, press the other, and then release both. Don't release the first button before you've pressed the second one!
I love the idea of a small simple add-on that does one simple task and makes my user experience so much greater. However, the implementation of this plugin does not meet those criteria.
Achieving "Back" is impossible. As soon as you click the right mouse button the FireFox context menu appears. "Forward" works but most of the time you're on the most "Forward" page and you want to go back.
Am I missing something here or is this implementation only half way there?
Nice concept, but author obviously has lost interest.
Time to find alternative that WORKS!
This is almost exactly what I want. The problem is I get random opening of tabs from doing the right-left rocking to go back one page due to another add-on I use, Instaclick. Instaclick makes right clicking links open in new tabs. So often times, when I am browsing around and use the back rocker, a new tab will open if my cursor happens be where a link is in the page I wanted to go back to.
For example, say I'm browsing a discussion board with a large list of topics. I click on one of the topics to read the thread. Then I do the back rocker to return to the previous page with the list of topics. The previous page loads quickly before my finger lifts off the right click button. If my cursor is on a link to another topic as I finish the rocker motion, it will open the link in a new tab. This is fairly annoying.
I am relatively sure this can be fixed as I previously used a different gesture/rocker add-on and had not experienced this problem.
Didn't work at all under the latest stable release of Debian Linux with Firefox 4... Hopefully the creator will fix the problem: it'd be nice to not need a fullblown mouse-gestures addon to just go backwards/forwards with a plain three-button mouse!
Does work, but minimally with OS X 6.7 and Firefox 4.0 .
Only seems to work on Firefox's windows/pages.
Not on other websites.
To memex, there is an About, but it won't help you.
Stlll doesn't work well on Linux. It does work on pages without a context menu, e.g. on about:addons , but as soon as the context menu pops up on normal pages, the "back" rocker doesn't work. Sadly, that's the most important combination.
In FF 3.6.11, Mac OSX.5.8, it says "View 'About' for instructions", but there is no About button. And the preferences window has no OK nor Cancel button and therefore the prefs cannot be set. °_° Unusable.
Works great, but I would like to third the request for lefty support. It's backwards to have to hold the left button then right click to browse back.
Hi. I just came in to say that I love that finally an extension has appeared with only rocker gestures. And yes, I hope you listen to your users when we say that we'd really like to go back or forward multiple pages without releasing the other button.
I'd just like to let the author know that trying to visit your website from FF results in a warning: "This web page at www.telekawaru.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences." I don't think that'll help to the peace of mind of those considering to install this addon in their PCs.
Finally, an add-on with Rocker gestures only! However, I agree with another poster: It should support going back multiple pages without having to release the other mouse-button for each page flip. Yes, it should be as in Opera, then it would be perfect. Anyway, I'm glad this add-on exists. Saves precious resources. The other gestures add-ons are bloated. And why install a big add-on when all I need is the rocker function? Thanks for this nice piece of software!
small good about this extension. :D
Not quite like the opera gestures: Walking multiple steps through history requires releasing both buttons at each step.
Please also implement operas option to just hold e.g. the right button an repeatedly click the left to go multiple steps!
(Otherwise great and what I was looking for :)
But, it would be even greater if you could add a switch for left- and right-handed mouse users (swapping mouse buttons).
This works just as the Opera browser forward and back mouse gestures work. Simple and it works.
Exactly what I was looking for given that the Rocker's gesture navigation was the only thing I was using from the All-in-one Gestures add-on which is not yet compatible with F 3.6. Works flawlessly so far... I am totally addicted to Rocker's gesture -- it should be included in the OS interface for any navigation... ;)
I love this simple and efficient plugin. Please, make an option to invert (i'm lefty)
performs limited function smoothly. Author should add center wheel function for page navigation
